2026 Winter Olympics - Day 2 (February 8)

Recommended Posts

Both Canadians fail to make the final in big air.

Not a great day for Canada. Not a great start overall. Besides Maltais' bronze, not a lot of good news so far.

Both Canadians miss out on the women's snowboard big air final.

What a shit day, the best performance was Xavier McKeever finishing 13th in the skiathlon (which was amazing!). Everything else was shit.

Edit: actually, Arnaud Gaudet making the quarterfinals in the PGS was a good result as well. Hopefully he gets a chance to compete again in 2030.

Well I mean a lot of our expected many chances will have to come later as I'm sure we all know. Like all our chances at medals today and honestly yesterday as well were really long shots.

I can only hope this will not be the case, but god forbid that our recent Summer Olympics success does not have to come at the cost of success at the Winter editions...

Okay Gogolev is the third good performance today. He won’t medal individually but it‘s so nice to see him skate well on Olympic ice.

Feel like Jobin, Gaudet, Mackie and McKeever deserve shoutouts.

Yep, especially Strate in normal hill finishing 10th (I was expecting a lot higher) and by far the worst result in mixed doubles curling

Canada finishes 5th instead of 4th in Figure Skating. Very disappointing. When will we get our first 4th? That's the real question!

Well on the bright side, at least I was able to catch up on some sleep this afternoon instead of watching the entirety of figure skating.

I thought I was being pessimistic when I was the only person to predict Canada only winning 1 curling match today. Turns out I was being too nice.

I feel bad for Japan... they got absolutely hosed

The Canadians had a pretty good effort. Gogolev did great, he might even be a medal contender one day

That's about it.

But folks on here tend to over-react a lot... many of the ones overreacting now were also convinced Paris was a lost cause half-way thru too. Touch grass people, or failing that, throw a snowball
