Milano Cortina 2026 - General Discussion

Recommended Posts

I would like to file a complaint with the IOC schedulers...next Thursday we have the Women's Free Skate and the Women's Hockey Gold Medal Match.  How am I to choose? :mumble:

(Also would like to file a complaint with the schedulers of our church retreat, which begins that day, so I have to be on the road for almost 3 hours at some point in the day.)

A lot going on tomorrow...

03:05 M Curling vs. :SWE

04:00 W Giant Slalom 1st Round (our ladies are towards the front)

04:30-05:50 M Dual Moguls

05:15 M Biathlon Pursuit - If Campbell's gonna medal, this might be it.  But he starts out 1:10 behind.  Can't miss a shot.

06:00 M Cross-Country Skiing Relay

07:30 W Giant Slalom 2nd Round

07:45-08:45 X Team Snowboard Cross

08:05 W Curling vs. :CHN

08:45 W Biathlon Pursuit - Our ladies are far back

10:00 M Long Track Team Pursuit QFs - I'm not going to say that we're the favorites to win, as we've seen how this has been going

11:03 W 500m Long Track - Erin Jackson and Femke Kok in the last pair...

12:00 X Team Skeleton - We're a long shot

13:05 M Curling vs. :NOR

13:45 Pairs Skating Short Program - At least I don't feel any pressure that we'll do well (I mean, I hope we do...but I don't think there's a medal riding on this.)

13:57 W Ski Jump LH Final Round

15:10 M Hockey vs. :GER

Can we get one medal in some color out of this?  There's a few chances...

Tomorrow's schedule...

04:00 M Slalom Run 1 (though it'd be shocking if we were close)

05:00-06:50 Short Track AKA KSG will fall down. (W 1000 QF-SF-F, M 500 Heats, M 5000m Relay SF (we're not in this))

07:30 M Slalom Run 2

10:40 W Hockey SF vs. :SWE

13:00 W Monobob Run 3 (We've got definite chances here!)

13:05 W Curling vs. :ITA

13:30 W Freeski Big Air (No entries here)

14:00 Pairs Skating Finals (I would say we didn't have a chance...but it'd be hilarious if Kam/O'Shea come home with a medal and Ilia didn't.)

14:30 M Ski Jumping Super Team

15:06 W Monobob Run 4 (Hoping for two clean runs by our gals!)

    • CAS made its decision in 2022 because it knew if it went in favour of Russia a lot of global sport would simply quit CAS.
    • Since this is my favorite Olympic sport, let's try and predict who the qualifiers will be (or at least the NOCs).   Boulder: 12 athletes per gender, 2 max per NOC, 1 host quota, 1 universality, quota is to the athlete by name Lead: Same as Boulder Speed: 14 athletes per gender, same other restrictions   Continental Restrictions (same for each discipline, below is listed per gender): 1 definite from Americas (from PanAm games in 2027) 1 definite from Europe (from European Games in 2027) 1 definite each from Asia, Africa, Oceania (from separate World Climbing Qualifiers in 2027)   The others come from the winners of the disciplines at the WCh in 2027, and then the top 4 (B/L) or 6 (S) from the OQS in 2028.   Then add host and universality.  (If either of these go unused, then it goes to the next highest from the OQS.   One thing I haven't quite understood is what happens if the same athlete wins a quota in, for instance, both Boulder and Lead.  Will it be just that athlete to compete in both, or will the athlete be able to compete in both, and another quota is available to the NOC or the next highest?     Boulder Lead Speed   M F M F M F PanAm  Colin Duffy   Brooke Raboutou  Colin Duffy  Brooke Raboutou  Sam Watson  Emma Hunt European  Mejdi Schalk  Janja Garnbret  Alberto Ginés López  Janja Garnbret  Yaroslav Tkach  One of the Kaluckas Asia        Chaehyun Seo     Africa             Oceania    Oceania McKenzie    Oceania McKenzie     World Champs  Toby Roberts  Erin McNeice    Annie Sanders     OQS      Toby Roberts  Laura Rogora  Zach Hammer   OQS          Aimur Maimuratov   OQS      Max Bertone       OQS     Oriane Bertone         OQS x x x x     OQS x x x x     Host (Reallocate)     Annie Sanders    Erin McNeice     Universality Reallocate   Reallocate   Reallocate    Reallocate    Nassar Borjaib Reallocate       How terribly did I do? :)
    • Yes, GB for example, have players who are only eligible because of the following rules.   The player has one parent who is, or if deceased was, a citizen of the nation the team represents. The player has one parent who was born in the nation or territory the team represents   GB's best player, Jazz Chisholm, only qualifies because his father was born in the Bahamas when it was still a British colony and had a "British Overseas Citizenship" until the Bahamas became independent. Jazz will never gets a true UK passport because the government citizenship laws do not  allow it.
