Woah, Peacock has official training for both downhill and luge on their schedule :O

(I know this usually gets broadcast in Europe, but I don't remember ever seeing luge official training available in Canada or the US before)

Luge trainings are a premiere also in Europe, DH trainings instead are very common (sometimes are shown also for world cup races, like Kitz)

They were picked up by NBC Olympics (website streaming) during Beijing 2022.

I also remember NBC showing some downhill training runs on broadcast during PyeongChang 2018.

OBS broadcast the training runs for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton at Beijing 2022 too.

Now if only the shooting qualifications could be broadcast during the summer games...

(Hundreds of Olympians never shown on camera!)

None of the trainings or qualifications in some sports like shooting are ever shown.

Shooting qualification not being broadcast is a bit of a joke imo, especially in the team events (where qualification has such a high importance)

I don't think CBC ever has... for very unfortunate reasons I do recall CTV did in 2010

Peacock is really good for showing all the secondary feeds/courts/apparatus. I wish CBC would. All too often we only get the main event feed for stuff like tennis, gymnastics, etc.

I sent CBC a email asking if it’s possible, we’ll see what response I get.

HBO Max is another one

My hot take is that now that Peacock is showing everything (and that we have Gold Zone) the US is a better country to watch the Olympics from than Canada. Which was not the case in the 2000s and 2010s.

I'll be in Canada for days -2 to 1 (ski trip at Sun Peaks :D ) and I plan to VPN to use Peacock xD

Peacock is WAAAAY better than CBC Gem and/or their website. I don't care about the celebrities and ancellary programming, but just that they seem to show all the feeds and alternates live, as well as it's far better organized and searchable. And it has it all live and replays.

I gave up entirely on Gem during Paris 2024, cause you couldn't fast forward/skip ahead on replays. It was ridiculous, and they didn't fix it the entire games, so it. much have been intentional. The website video at least worked properly

The NBC TV coverage has gotten much better, and isn't tape delaying everything... but their insistence on shoving narratives and storylines down your throat is still there on the main network. I still remember how they spend an hour hyping up Shriffrin and her big redeption race in the 2022 slalom... then when she wiped out again, focused on her briefly, then cut away and never came back. Nothing else mattered! lol

    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
