Polish Eurosport commentator Marcin Szafrański (former athlete) said that from the rumours he's heard there's no chance Vlhova competes in Cortina.

Did he say anything about Brignone? I think only Vlhova and her close people know where they stand, and I don't think any journalists from other countries have any special information on the matter.

No, nothing about Brignone. The lack of info after Vlhova's second surgery probably says more how serious it was (the fact she needed two surgeries was a red flag already).

In my opinion, someone did a bad job with the first surgery – I don't know where she had it done. Fortunately, the Italian federation has an excellent medical staff and a contract with Dr. Panziermi – he's already saved Goggia and her career several times. Now, he performed a brilliant operation on Brignone knee (at the very beginning she was dangerous with amputation leg under the knee!!!). 20- 30 years ago, many Italian skiers had to end their careers early due to bad done surgeries, including superstars like Deborah Compagnoni.

Regarding Brignone, the latest news is that the president of Fisi, the Italian ski federation, has said he would advise her to return just to the Olympics, without competing in any World Cup events in January. This likely means the SG and Gigant events, without downhill. In any case, her spot will wait until the very end without having to participate in the internal World Cup qualifiers on team of Italy.

given that we only have 6 female skiers that somehow have earned themselves a place in Cortina and we have 11 spots available, there's no selection problem at all for her

if she wants, dh, sg, gs and combined spots are hers with no argument by any other girl

personally, I agree with Roda (the dh wouldn't make sense for her in any case on that track in February -see the last world champs held there)

I've already written about Fede's imminent threat of falling out of the top 7 in the WCSL giant slalom. There are 3 giant slalom events left until the Olympics, and Colturl and Moltzan are about just 50 points behind. Therefore, Fede will have to start from 8th to 15th place in the giant slalom at the Olympics, and the start list was important saw last Semmering World Cup...

2021 was a different Fede than in 2025... The question is, what kind of Fede will she be like now after such a long return?
