Another lacklustre performance by the Italian women in the slalom. I wonder if the coaches will call up the young prospect Giada D'Antonio for some WC starts this season. There seems to be a lot of hype for her and also the marketability will probably be there, as she isn't the typical skier.

Shiffrin again with Gold by more than 1.5 seconds! :yikes:  (Caitlin Mcfarlane :FRA actually skiied faster than her on Run 2, but had a worse Run 1.)

no, it won't happen

but she will start in some of the Europa Cup slalom races from next week (surely all those held in Italy, where we have double the number of allowed skiers)

We're in the middle of the home Olympics season in Italy, so by now we should be seeing the final results, which are terrible. They should especially prevent Colturi from escaping to Albania, as this is the only real chance for a slalom medal for us for many, many years. In any normal country, the head of such a federation should have resigned long ago and faced criminal charges for wasting public funds for the kind of shit we're seeing now. Personally, I think that our slalom team is simply unnecessary in its current form - they should have spent all the money on the private Colturi team and asked 2-3 talented young Italians to join them, e.g. Collomb, Sola, maybe D`Antonio, etc. The result would have been much better than what we see now, which is only one skier in 30 in 23rd place.

    • Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
