:INA might win a C&J medal from Group B

well this is hardly a surprise

Rahmat E.A. is toying the rules for years. his dad (his coach) puts him intentionally in Group B to avoid the Group A pressure.

that sucks for the audience but that's within the IWF rules. IWF tried before find a way to prevent guys like him doing that but no solution yet and I'm afraid it's simply impossible.

I am happy he didn’t get the total medal

I remember he did the the same during WCH before Olympics

Someone should look for a solution to stop this nonsense

yeah he somehow tasted his own medicine tonight, he finished 4th, only 2kg behind the gold medalist. if he was in Group A he knew exactly what he had to lift to win a medal.

I think :EGY Abdelrahman was the better weightlifter tonight. he was very very unlucky with the strict jury/refs annulling both of his WR attempts in snatch, he just didn't mentally recovered for CJ. I'm glad he at least won a medal.

the jury also annulled the WR attempt of PRK weightlifter, they were very strict.

The Italian team is a joke – several people go to the World Championship and none of them can pass a single attempt? Is anyone there even responsible for anything?

I don't think there's an easy solution. You could try going by previous performances, but then you might get situations where an athlete who doesn't compete very often getting put into a lower group.

Tonight was the last day of the competition for North Korea, no PRK weightlifter in remaining heavier weights.

they had 5 women and all of them won the gold medal :yikes:

they also had 5 male weightlifters and managed to win 3 silvers and 1 bronze

9 medals from 10 athletes is remarkable . yeah China A team is not here but I don't think even Chinese A weightlifters could challenge these North Korean girls

What is going on with China especially on the women’s side, not a single medal? And Is North Korea doping, how are they able to destroy the competition on the women’s side so easily?

Whats your opinion on number of athletes limit in wheightlifting? i imagine how it would be if FINA stated that each country will have only 1 quota in specific number of events e.g. 20 from 35

obviously this is terrible. Weightlifting is the only sport where sometimes winning the Olympics is much easier than winning the World title. and the Olympic Champion is not necessarily the best in that specific category.

but I understand they wanted to gift some medals (specially gold medals) to certain countries to help keeping WL in the Olympic program. that's still terrible.
