Yeah, i don't 100% trust jonas to destroy everyone the way pog did at the giro last year, also looking forward to watching UAE all argue and fallout with one another without someone to lead them

No stage winner today and times will be taken at 3km before the finish. That was exactly what one feared for, especially after the first passage through Bilbao: lots of dangerous situations, people trying to attack the riders and cause injuries and everything. Goodbye Basque Country/Bilbao for the next few years, one might hope, sadly.

.

What an embarrassment for this race. That was some amateurish level of organization. If they couldn't properly secure the race from interference, they could have at least called a snap decision to have the stage winner at the 5 km or 3 km banner. Good that I've barely had time to watch the race and am not that into the battle after this shit.

Which battle, exactly? :p

Whatever one's opinion about today is, it made for basically the only slightly interesting thing so far in this Vuelta

.

Letting the team that exists to 'whitewash' Israel ride

Protesters trying to physically harm the riders

Zero tension for the win

The awful 'opening' in Italy

Stage after stage where absolutely nothing happened

Can we just collectively throw all memories of this Vuelta in the trash?

.

I'm new to road cycling...sorry to see all this unfold!

But regardless, congrats to the overall winners, though there is no podium ceremony.

Gold - Jonas Vingegaard :DEN

Silver - João Almeida :POR

Bronze - Tom Pidcock :GBR

(And for some hometown support, :USA had 3 inside the top 10.)  :)  Riccitello 5, Kuss 7, Jorgenson 10

Another giant flop for this race and Spain. :coffee:

The country is heading fast towards openly backing Hamas.

    • A bit of a mixed session for  GB.   The Women's Team Pursuit blew up in the final and were lucky to avoid the overlap. Worth saying the GB were the only medalist that didn't make use of their substitute rider - probably not surprising given the substitute was Lauren Bell. Still a second-tier team was good enough to take a silver.   The Men's Team Pursuit had a nightmare day. Having crashed in the first qualifying run, they did enough on the rerun to get to the 1st round where they did step up and qualify for the bronze medal match. They kept it close against China for the first half before fading pretty badly to finish 4th.   I was a bit surprised that the Women's Team Sprint were beaten by China. They were leading by 0.2 seconds after Bell and Finucane had completed their laps but it looked like Parris-Smith was just way too far back.   The standout was the Men's Team Sprint. I thought they were going to have to settle for the silver but somehow managed to pull it out of the bag in the final lap.        I definitely picked the wrong section of the crowd though - caught between two competing locals. One vocally anti-China, accusing them of cheating and booing every time they were on the track. At one point he was singing God Save the King and Rule Britannia. In the end he was asked to leave.    Biggest cheer of the night was for  Lee Sze Wing's silver in the elimination race.
