Canada at the 2025 AQUA World Aquatics Championships

Recommended Posts

Men's relay finished last. Unfortunately Senc-Samardzic couldn't replicate his 48.23 split from this morning and went 49.26 in the final.

Other 3 legs were great though.

Gaziev much better with a 48.37 leadoff

Liendo 47.08!!!

Sauve at 48.18 is also solid. An improvement by 0.2 seconds from the morning.

With Summer's win today, she is now 16th on the all-time World Championship individual medal standings.

This was her 5th career individual World Championship gold medal which ties her with :LTU Ruta Meilutyte, :RUS Alexander Popov, :FRA Leon Marchand, :USA Lilly King, :GER Hannah Stockbauer, and :NED Inge de Bruijn. Of course, Meilutyte, Marchand and King could still increase their totals her.

This was her 7th career individual World Championship medal. That ties her with :GBR Adam Peaty, :GER Michael Gross, :USA Brendan Hansen, :RSA Chad le Clos, :USA Missy Franklin, :ITA Simona Quadarella*, :USA Ian Crocker, :USA Ryan Murphy, :POL Otylia Jedrzejczak, :USA Nic Fink, :USA Natalie Coughlin, :CHN Zhang Yufei*, and :CHN Li Bingjie* on the all-time list. The athletes in asterisks could still increase their total here.

She's also the most decorated Canadian swimmer at World Championships. She was tied with Penny Oleksiak and Kylie Masse with 9 medals but has more golds than both of them.

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
