Great start for Steve McGuire in the Boccia  as he racks a 3!

Chica Chica - the man with a name from a 40s Hollywood Musical - gets it back to 3-3.

Chica Chica has a disaster & it's a five!

Wow, Ellie Challis, that was just so incredible!  Went like a tiny steam engine.  :yikes:

It's all getting...Well, it's getting a bit silly now. I expected gBR to hold their own in track cycling, they did, despite leaving possibly two golds on the track. 2 golds in taekwondo was doable. We knew the rowers were ace, and triathlon would bring home some metal.

But the swimming, Jesus h Nora, the swimming! The swimming medal table actually makes me giggle slightly hysterically! Super delighted for, well, all of em, but especially Fiddes who has been a bit of an npc in the wake of the Firth-Applegate rivalry, and looked  like she might suffer the same fate with new generation. And yet, and yet, she's now an individual paralympic champion!

Now if only the track and fieldies could come to the party!

Bear in mind we still have Canoe, equestrian, road cycling to open up their accounts....

Normally this type of thing just makes me jealous of other people's achievements, but I'm getting properly patriotic over this performance

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
