So you believe that AIN is an NOC, not individuals competing? You could be right, the FIL has published no communication or rules on how they are handling them. We will have to wait until they publish an Olympic qualifying standing to know for sure I suppose.

I would say it looks like a total mess right now. These questions and problems have no answers right now.

  • FIL has updated the qulification rules but there is nothing about AIN`s there right now.
  • FIL did not publish any regulations on AIN`s participation, criteria e .t.c. So what are the legal grounds of their participation?
  • Russian NOC is still suspended by the IOC - so russians cannot qualify as any other athletes without special regulations.
  • At the same time russians filed an appeal to allow their doubles to compete.
  • Who and how check their neutrality?

Here is Matvey Perestoronin. He competed last week. He got his military ID on May 25, 2022 as a member of Central Sport Club of Army.

So we are approaching the same situtation as the one before Paris. IFs issues fake neutral statuses. Russians "win" quaotas. The IOC does not confirm neutrality. Quotas are redistributed.

As I cited above according to the results of the research 43% of the neutral statuses issued by the international sport federations were denied by the IOC. Almost half is a fake neutrality.

P.S. Meanwhile russians will miss the next world cup stage in Winterberg - it is their own decision, and Pavel*    Rpman Repilov is under arrest because he is accused of stealing 11 million rubles allocated for the purchase of sleds for the training center of the national team.

* (as imaxim mentioned - it was Pavel`s brother - Roman. And I can add that he was assisted by Peretyagin).

In doubles women If China finishes the next races, I understand that Germany loses its 2nd team? In men`s doubles Georgia didn`t finish the last competition and probably nothing new country will join, so we can expect 5 countries with 2 teams: Ger, Aut, Ita, USA, Lat. Currently Slovakia has 2 teams, but they will probably lose them to Georgia in the next starts.

He probably must have offended someone important because in Russia such things are usually kept quiet about famous people, athletes, etc., who have good contacts with the authorities - and most of them have the support of the sport federations etc.

Under arrest his brother, three-time WC Roman Repilov. As I heard there are no any question to Pavel, otherwise he could not go abroad to international starts

And again according to the tennis - Russians took quotas by the sane rules as the each others and IOC confirm all quotas, so that's why I think if AIN's got more than 1 quotas it will be apply by IOC.

At last in some sports they even complete with flags and there are no IOC's reaction.

IOC just filters it out (will not invite some athletes), but I don't think that thy will cut quotas.

Usually the rules are not rewritten on the way, but in that case I admit that FIL can got some Q&A about AIN's. But this is not compulsory. IMHO

I would say - he did not share some part of "the profit" with someone from above )

AIN's will skip (they got American visa too late) 2nd WC stage (but their could compete in 3rd WC stage) and, therefore, their chances to got more than 1 entry in OG have become lower, especially,  if their will not allow to compete in Sigulda (but after their participation in Poland's short-track WT stage, I won't give 100% chances for that).

Maybe problem with entries will be solved by itself)

Statement from the president of the russian Luge federation (yesterday):

"Our team is in Kazakhstan and is preparing to apply for U.S. visas. We are setting an example for our entire country, especially for the younger generation. They see that a difficult path is not a reason to give up. It teaches perseverance. In this perseverance lies our shared strength, our mission to millions of young people for whom sports are a guiding point and a shining star. I believe in our country, in our strong-spirited guys. I sincerely love and respect our president, Vladimir Putin. He is the best president in the world. May God grant him strength and good health."

Do they deserve neutral status?

Officials persons (include Head) of RLF are still in ban. For example, Vaelbe has spoken even more terrible words but, however, CAS obliged to gave them AIN status.

And it's the same situation here - FIL must to implement CAS's decision. But it's not clearly FIL's criterias for AIN status and that too strange

    • Thank you! And I wish  win your medals at these Games and continue medal streak! For us even one medal will mark the Games as successfull.
    • Trump will attack Iran soon , maybe tonight
    • Yep, that was really unfortunate, but well, such things happens. Anyway this amount of lugers is really impressive.   Congrats and good luck at the Games
    • Yeah, Qualifying a team for the summer olympics is completely out of the question. Not going to happen for a long time. In Sydney 2000 we had 3 teams W Basketball, M Football & M Water Polo, it was already insane and this was even in a totally different era. Nowadays it is just Utopian. We have none to be at a high level in Europe to aspire for a qualification to the Olympics.   W Handball is really the most obvious chance in a long shot. The U17 girls showed last summer that it is possible, who knows maybe in Brisbane if the planets allign well.    Paris 2024 was a nightmare I do not want to remember. The worst games I experienced in my life. point.
    • Khm, do we know the fate of the  license in pairs? I did not see confirmation of their entry.   If they fail  must get full license (team + individual) and one more place for team event will be available, am I correct?
    • Honestly, we did not expect more than 8. 2 additional places happened just becaues your double could not grab it due to the injury(?).
    • Vivat Slovakia    But in all seriousness, it's been repeatedly stated how important it is to qualify in a team event for the next Summer Olympics. However, I have no idea if we even have a realistic chance.   We only have one fewer individual athlete competing this year than we did in Paris, so individual quota spots aren't the main issue. Where can we find a competitive team, like we do in hockey? Maybe the women's handball team could start something big, but that's still far in the future, very likely unachievable in just two years.   And to be clear, as horrific as our medal tally from Paris looked, those were some of the unluckiest Olympics for Slovakia I have ever seen. Finishing in the top six seven times (!) is absolutely insane.

So fingers crossed for them and for the whole delegation.   We don’t expect to much as usual in winter games (1-2 top 10 - luge team, women’s doubles luge, 2man bobsleigh, and maybe Julia Sauter if she will skate clean both programs)
