Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Medal Count

Recommended Posts

:POL with nine medals overall (guaranteed in volleyball & boxing TBD). We need one more to maintain the double digit count streak since 1960 (we had nine medals in Melbourne 1956).

Not a single individual medal from a male athlete though.

A bit of a battle between Canada, NZ and Hungary for 11th position on the medal tally. But if Canada win the women's beach volleyball you'd have to think they'll be favs.

2 another medals for Ukraine today.

And 6 medals for Italy ;)

But I would count only 1 medal for Ukraine right now. Weight control is tomorrow

The day started badly for us but ended great. We won many unexpected medals again but we also took some 4th places. These games are totally crazy for us but also unlucky. I'm counting on Tambieri the most tomorrow and on Sunday on women's volleyball team. The last time we won gold in a team sport was in 2004 in women's water polo.

Do you have a 3rd big gold chance? Asking as a concerned brit that we're gonna get swamped by europe in the next two days 🤯

I see you germany with your handball and beach volley finals, and you netherlands

Canada has won the exact same medal combination as in Tokyo (a later reallocation switched a Bronze to silver). Still a few chances for medals and hopefully we can win a few. The next medal would mean Canada's best ever non boycotted games performance.

Considering the amount of bad luck and stuff that didn't go our away, I consider this a miracle

Maybe Elena Micheli in Modern Pentathlon? She was a World Champion in 2022 and 2023 but I don`t know if she suffer too many losses in fencing? I don't know much about this discipline and only follow the results because of the good performances of the Italians.

It's the same with Italy. We took 20x 4th or 5th place here (judo, which means de facto 1st place on the podium). Today alone we took another 5x 4th place. You have to remember, however, that`s no ROC here. They won 71 medals in Tokyo, including 20 gold. Someone had to take those medals from them. Probably most of them the USA and China but other countries also.

    • I`m a traditionalist and I like alpine skiing competitions in the morning hours, illuminated by the sun In ski jumping this is practically non-existentthis in contrast the early 21st century (It's nice that at least there's Planica at the end of every season). There are also traditional competitions under artificial lights, like in Schladming or Madonna di Campiglio. There's no need to do the same thing everywhere as in ski jumping. Alpine skiing finals are rarely super exciting, because usually everything is clear and the skiers are tired from the long season. Finals were often canceled, so this year it was okay for me. If someone wanted a spectacle, that's what the Olympics Games or the World Cup in Kitzbuchel.

    • Baffling scheduling again. It's like FIS want to drive people away.    It's the Finals, on paper your big conclusion to the season, yet it feels like "let's get this over with". Just compare how the ATP treat their finals with this.   Ok, you want to have the GS & SL on Tuesday/Wednesday. That's fine, i've been advocating for more mid-week starts to begin with. But why, oh why do you have them in the middle of the day, on a work week.  Why aren't you having them in the evening, in prime time, when people are off work. Make it a big special event, which people want to visit and not during the day in front of a 100 fans. It's not that hard to choose a place with some floodlights.     And even this week we don't have Champion League football, so the night is free from big competition. Perfect opportunity to have alpine skiing on TV right now, but noooo.
