Fencing EFC European Championships 2024

Terrible form for the Italians. Only 1 will have a medal today. With such a poor level, it's a disgrace: no Rus, no Thibus, no Sauer. Volpi has too many strange fails. It's a long way to the level of domination of the Italian women's foil team from the times of Vezzali, di Francisca and Errigo.

gotta be realistic, those times will never come back...

I'm happy to still be a true gold medal candidate in every major competition, both individual and team's

however, it's obvious that we didn't prepare these championships properly, our guys are already fully focused on the Olympic events

still, losing to average level opponents hurts :hairpull:

:HUN Aron Szilagyi lost to :TUR Enver Yildirim in the second round of men's sabre :yikes:

and there's still one round left, but in the quarterfinals we might see a very rare :FRA brothers' affair between Jean-Philippe and Sebastien Patrice with a medal up for grabs :fingers:

in the men's Sabre quarterfinals we have 4x :FRA, 3x :ITA and 1x :ROU :yikes:

:ITA Luca Curatoli vs :FRA Maxime Pianfetti

:ITA Luigi Samele vs :ROU George Dragomir

:ITA Michele Gallo vs :FRA Bolade Apithy

:FRA Jean-Philippe Patrice vs :FRA Sebastien Patrice

so, we actually have 2 brothers facing each other with a medal up for grabs :yikes:

3 Italian medals in men's sabre and 1 in women's foil.
A few hours ago you'd have needed to be under the influence of heavy drugs to say this sentence.

    • I hope they can kick teqball and convince the North Koreans to play the real deal  (very unlikely, I know(   Obstacle racing on the other hand, it should be a compulsory sport of the ABG

    • Oops. I must have misunderstood. I could have sworn I saw her jogging in a field of other men. I assumed she had caught up to some of the slower men. (I admittedly wasn't watching closely.)
    • The women started earlier, it was a race without any men participating.
    • Looking forward to this competition starting tomorrow! Will be nice to see some other countries participate. USA women start with Namibia tomorrow.
    • This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.   Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会競技プログラム.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会デイリースケジュール.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会セッションスケジュール.pdf   On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.
    • looks like the agreement is the international federations are in fact hosting the event, not the AG organizers, so everything is up to them to make it happen.   Teqball is now confirmed to have 5 events (singles and doubles) does it mean easy 5 gold medals for Thailand ?   Padel is not 100% confirmed yet. I assume there are still talks ongoing between the IF and the Japanese organizers.
    • I feel like this year's Eurovision is more wide open than ever 😂   There isn't a clear favorite, and that makes everything more exciting. Finland is looking strong, sure, but Ukraine always knows how to surprise people and connect with them. I was checking out the odds a bit, and I was struck by how quickly they're rising.   By the way, I found a site that compares the odds pretty clearly: https://casasdeapuestaseurovision.com/   It’s nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how things are shaping up before the semifinals. Although we all know how this goes… at Eurovision, everything can change in a matter of minutes
