Shriever doing exactly the same thing in the final of both rounds 5 and 6. She can't get round Sakasibara going into the first turn, and then just exits the track stage left in exactly the same place.

Just strikes me as giving up when she realises she's not getting the win, despite the electric form she showed in all of the previous races in both rounds 5 and 6.

Better results in round 6 of world cup.....but not much better.

Shriever failed to take advantage of the fact that Pajon didn't make it to the final. She was in contention through the first turn and before fading to the back and ultimately rolling through the finish line 30 seconds after the rest of the field. In the end finishing 8th, she nets 25 points more than :COL but that was more than offset by the fact that Emily Hutt again failed to make the final of the under-23 whilst Colombia's Fayad Mercado finished 3rd. Overall, Colombia will extend their lead again - probably by around 50-60 points.

For the men, Kye Whyte made the final - he was well placed for a podium finish until :SUI Marquart went down in front of him, and he had to adjust his line to avoid him. He did at least keep going and finished 5th place. The rest of the Brits didn't make it out of the quarter finals. :NED Niek Kimmann won and :USA Kamren Larsen finished 3rd so I expect both Netherlands and USA to overtake GB when the next ranking list comes out. Rough calculation is that GB will be around 200-250 points behind USA.

There is just the World Champs and Europeans left to count in the qualifying window and a gap of 250 points can be reeled in if the team have a strong Worlds in a couple of weeks. If they can go into the Europeans less than 200 points behind USA, then I think GB should be able to do enough to regain a top 5 place but it is going to be close.

Not sure how, but :GBR manage to stay ahead of :NED in the latest ranking release, maintaining a gap of about 160 points. :USA did overtake GB and have opened a lead of 230 points.

We could really do with 2 of our guys getting through to the world champs final next month to keep us in the hunt for that second quota spot.

We didn't see much of it in Glasgow as it was only used in the ill-fated men's team pursuit squad, but GB Cycling officially launched their 2024 Olympic Track Bike yesterday.

Charlie Aldridge finishes 9th at the Mountain Bike European Championships in :ROU. Unfortunately, :GBR were outscored by :DEN - probably won't be enough for GB to drop out of the top-8 in the ranking but the gap is likely to be down to around 200 points.

Only a couple of events to go before the end of the qualifying window. Would have more confidence in our ability to hold on to 8th place if we were to see Tom Pidcock in Nove Mesto in a couple of weeks time.

There'll be 2 qualification Pools and 4 teams in each with the top 2 teams in each pool advancing to the 2026 WBC.   As a fan of international baseball, words cannot describe how disappointed I am. We are coming off arguably the greatest international baseball tournament in history in 2023 and we are cutting the number of teams in the qualification round from 12 to 8 teams . How do you expect to grow baseball like that? Teams like  Argentina and  Pakistan have been on the rise but now they won't have the chance to qualify.     Taipei Qualification Pool (Feb. 21-25, 2025)  Nicaragua  South Africa  Spain  Taiwan     Tucson Qualification Pool (Mar. 2-6, 2025)  Brazil  China  Colombia  Germany

    • Well... I'm late, as always, but unfortunately I couldn't follow live and I've just finished catching up with the thread.    Congratulations to our winner @Hipooo and to @Belle and @Erigert on their medals.    Well done to our host @Cinnamon Bun, who put up a huge effort managing the contest.   Thank you to everyone who voted for our song and helped us achieve this 5th place. I saw we were very close to a podium finish, but this is still a great result.   Congratulations to @Makedonas on the very successful song choice.   I'll now share my ballot.     1st   12 pts   Romania  2nd   11 pts   Bulgaria  3rd   10 pts   Sweden  4th   9 pts   Mexico  5th   8 pts   Brazil  6th   7 pts   Indonesia  7th   6 pts   China  8th   5 pts   France  9th   4 pts   Denmark  10th   3 pts   Spain  11th   2 pts   Italy  12th   1 pts   Albania    Res1   Ireland  Res2   India  Res3   Hungary   I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the next contest!
