What do we know about the new tie system ?

For ITTF WC it'll be used in group stages. All matches are to a 4 games not best of 5 or 7. From R16 it's knockout best of 7.

Sreeja starts with a impressive win against :POL Natalia Bajor 4-0.

Feel so bad for Sreeja she faces Cheng Meng with better draws she could have progressed further.

In Incheon she just lost to Wang Manyu:CHN in 1st round who then won all her matches easily to finish runners up.

In World team TT she beat Wang Yidi:CHN World No 3, 3-0.

:GER Franziska through to the final at the WTT Singapore Smash! :yes

What a run he’s been on.

Speaking of Franziska, just a casual reminder that we won’t be seeing him at the Olympics even in the team event (stupid German Table Tennis Federation ) despite being the best German table tennis player in the world at the moment. This year alone he’s beaten Ma Long, and Fan Zhendong TWICE! His only bad loss was to Gerassimenko.

    • Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.
    • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.
