Our GM Miro Šatan announced today that the Canadian Craig Ramsay will stay as coach of SVK national team also for the next year, his main task/job/mission remaining the same to qualify the country to the Beijing WOG. the deal will include a special clause if he´ll succeed, he´ll coach the team also at the Olympics the next year regardless of other circumstances.

Yep, Sadly it is true, from 2024 to 2028 the WCH will not be in RTVS anymore, which is pretty sad, since I don´t see JOJ covering all matches in TV like RTVS did, but who knows ? maybe they will find a way and RTVS will buy a sub licence or something like it was during the WOG in PyeongChang.

However, I just hate when private television company gets the rights to big events. I mean, ok, let them broadcast football leagues, winter sports WC, Athletics Diamond league etc.. but the Ice Hockey WCh, Football WC/EURO and Olympics should remain exclusively for national Public television.

In our forums started as expected "discussions" and majority asking loudly :

why we have to pay concession fees when even they can't keep up the Ice Hockey Worlds ?

so, despite all the covid troubles, some International Hockey was on stage in this weekend...:cheer:

the top tier tournament was the traditional Karjala Cup in Helsinki (FIN), where Russia swept the field with 3 wins over Finland, Sweden (this game only at the penalty-shootout) and Czech Republic...

the Czechs ended up in 2nd place ahead of the Home Team (FIN), Sweden were dead last with only 1 point in the standings (the PSO loss against RUS)...

in Krefeld (GER), instead, a "minor edition" of the also traditional Deutschland Cup was played...

unfortunately, many of the invited teams had to withdraw because of the covid situation, so finally it was a 3-team contest between Germany, Top Team Peking (basically, Germany B) and Latvia...

the "regular season" ended with Germany on top of the standings ahead of Latvia and Top Team Peking...

meanwhile today's "final" saw the Latvians taking their revenge over the Germans (after yesterday's loss 2-0), winning the game 3-2 at the overtime and the tournament...

Full Results and Rankings can be found in the Forum's Result Section... ;)

Fights and brawls are nothing unusual in this sport...between players obviously..

but fights between head coaches are definitly nothing regular  After the yesterday Slovak Extraliga match between the :HUN DVTK Miskolc and HK Detva happened this..

The canadian coach of the host team Dave Allison was not really happy with the time out of Detva in the very last seconds of the match and attempt to score one more goal in the last few seconds 4 on 3 power play, Detva was already leading 0-4.

So at the end he "apparently" vulgarly insulted Bokroš, this was enough for the experienced former our U20 National Team coach to run after him.  They had to be separated by the organizers.

All players were like : huh, wtf ? nobody knew what to do, no one no one has seen anything like this in their life
