the tournament finally started earlier Today at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

this stadium is the 2nd largest in the world, 132,000 seats...and it was so sad watching today's game with basically no audience

I just can't believe the Cricket World Cup in India started with such lack of atmosphere, just like the most anonymous senseless test match in the middle of nothing

by the way, in the opening match New Zealand dominated the field against England in the revenge match of the last World Cup Final @ The Lords in London

after England scored 282/9 in the first inning, they answered with 283/1 (Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra both going well beyond "100, not out") in just 36+ overs and won by 9 wickets

Tomorrow it's time for Pakistan to open their campaign against the Netherlands

:PAK won game #2 of the World Cup vs :NED by 81 runs

the Dutch team had a very good first inning, keeping the Pakistan's bats at bay, scoring only a reasonable 286 runs, all out in 49 overs

but they just couldn't do almost anything on offense, giving up too many wickets in the early stages and finishing their effort with 205 runs, all out in only 41 overs (most likely, they wouldn't have scored 287 runs even if they could complete all the 50 overs, tbh)

Tomorrow, it's time for a doubleheader: first, :BAN vs :AFG (7 a.m. CET), then :SRI vs :RSA (10.30 a.m. CET)

There is some way to watch (free) some match?

not legally

for the European viewers (except for GBR and IRL), the official provider is Yupp TV, which charges 25€ for the special pack covering the whole World Cup

speaking of not so legal options, if you have a Firestick (or an Android TV), I can tell you that you can download (not from the official store) an app called Sportsfire, where you have all the channels you need for a full world of sports coverage (all the US and Canadian sports network, all Sky Sports from ITA to GER, UK and NZL :yikes:, the Indian Star Sports, South African Supersports and many more)

p.s. to be used absolutely under vpn coverage (and you also need some powerful broadband connection, because with vpn all these channels have some buffering issues with a weak wifi connection)

meanwhile, in game #3, :BAN easily beat :AFG by 6 wickets

:AFG scored only 156 runs in 37 overs (all out); :BAN replied with 158/4 in just 34 overs

in game #4 (still underway), :RSA established a new record for the highest score ever in the ODI's World Cup, 428 runs (5 outs) in 50 overs :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

:SRI bowlers just unwatchable; 2nd inning is running right now, but :SRI are basically hopeless

finally, game #4 ended with :RSA winning by 102 runs (428/5 in 50 overs vs 326, all out in 45 overs) vs :SRI

and also the total score is a new record in terms of runs scored (754) in a single match in the history of the World Cup

game #5, the great clash between :IND and :AUS resulted in a disappointing underperformance by the Australian batsmen in the first inning, scoring the misery of 199 runs, all out in 49.3 overs

so, despite a dramatic start of the second inning, :IND finally settled down and did their job with the bats, scoring 201 runs in 41 overs (with only 4 wickets given up)

:IND (201/4, 41.2 overs) b. :AUS (199/all out, 49.3 overs) by 6 wickets

Will be watching it at the stadium. Netherlands better play well, a lot left to be desired in batting.
