Yeah, I guess it is an approved event to obtain entry standard, but I was talking about ranking points for Olympic rankings

Yes it should offer that too since half of the spots will be by rankings

But not for all them the University Games are an approved event. If you think about it, it discriminates athletes who are not signed in any university, so it is understendable

As far as I know, badminton is a non-ranking event. Unless I've missed something...

Don't have enough time to follow this closely, as it is a packed summer already. I had a glance at the first results today and is the whole thing going to unfold as a mini-Asian games  Don't know, if this being in China is a factor and what kind of teams the other Continents are sending. In general, it appears that the Universiades have lost their importance in the big sporting calendar compared to the 10 years ago, let alone 20-30 years ago.
