Apparently the natives say that they don't want change tha Washington logo and that NOBODY ask something to the native community.

Ahh, America. You will never change...

:d Now we have to figure out which tribes are entitled to speak on behalf being represented by the Redskins name? Of course the liberals won't care about it. I mean how many of these bozos have even heard of the ochre pigment that indirectly represents the name Redskins in first place?

Where did you read that?

Another thread ruined by politics and "defund police" BS. I'll probably stop posting here until the season starts :(

Everyone hates Dan Snyder and wants him gone. That's old news. Other than James Dolan at Knicks I don't know any other owner who gets a worse rap in the media. I smell some Jerry Sandusky-like crap but then again, it's America. I won't be surprised by anything :dunno:

The liberals will probably hate the Washington franchise out of sheer habit for years to come anyway

Money talks, bullshit walks.  Yea, this story has been out there for years, but as soon as a major sponsor basically said "we're pulling our support until you change your name," it was going to happen.

If you want to talk sports and not politics, ignore the thread during the offseason.  A prominent owner probably about to be pushed out is a pretty big story.  And I'm sure more than a few Redskins Washington NFL football club fans will be thrilled to see him go.  Maybe they'll actually manage to not suck so much with someone else in charge

One guy with money will be replaced by another guy with money. One common thing about these billionaires is they don't give a damn what other people think. Their wealth allows them to rise above the political corectness. Look at the house cleaning Tepper did at Panthers. Every corner stone of the 2015 15-1 team is gone. Newton, Kuechly, T.Davis, Olsen and HC Rivera. All gone. Tepper wanted his own team and made sure everyone from the Richardson tenure hit the road. Kuechly retired but I wonder how much this had to do with the new ownership tbh.

Redskins have been irrelevant since the first Joe Gibbs era ended (or since the Heath Shuler draft bust, you name it). If the Browns or Jets are the NFL's 'loveable losers' then Redskins were the 'unloveable losers' for the last 25+ years

apparently it's the Blackfeet Nation the one with the closest ties to the name and logo of the Redskins...

but of course the question involves also all the other tribes, so it's more controversial than ever...there's no common view even among the Native Nations...

Not anymore it doesn't.  Look at the the debate over the name change which has been out there for years.  Look how quickly things changed when 1 big time sponsor made it about money.  The fact that Snyder is about to be Donald Sterling'ed out of the league is about something completely separate.  Yes, he'll be replaced with someone else, and again, maybe they'll no longer be one of the most poorly run franchises that has little excuse to be poorly run.

Dan Snyder was one of the least popular owners in the league anyway. Big money sides with big money. Tepper kicked Cam Newton out and nobody spend 1% of the time to criticize that move compared to Colin Kaepernick's martyrdom after getting benched for Blaine Gabbert ;) Tepper is the wealthiest owner in NFL right now, he outbid some Hispanic guy Navarro IIRC for the Panthers ownership, all the talk about minority owners in NFL and it's all old white & Jewish money owning all the damn franchises. Blacks and Hispanics can basically do nothing about it. Even the Asians have more ownership in the major leagues, Seattle Mariners are still owned by the Japanese, right?

Not quite sure where to to leave this since we don’t have a CFL thread, so I’ll just post it here.

Yeah, so much for having the Inuit people have any say in this. Even if they oppose the name change, it doesn't matter.  It's all about money and political corectness at it's finest

This article says 78% of Western Artic Inuit opposes the change but who cares? :p

    • Something you do not see often Kutaisi intentionally tried to not win a match twice in regular time and 2 following extra times and in all 3 times failed   They were supposed to win by 7 points at least to keep their chance to qualify in Eurocup competition alive, so when they could win by 2 they decided to not   That was hilarious I recommend to watch both the ends of 4 quarter and both Extra times

    • it's not difficult when you have such a strict policy to enter or leave the country. Or when you have a dictator that can mask number as he wish, if he can convince their people that a highly censored and restrictive land can host a competition like the Olympic Games, i'm sure he can convince no covid case was detected.   One fun fact is that their guards and border control officers were very serious and strict with people from other nationalities when entering the country, but with us it was very different, they would look at our passport with serious face, look at the country, look at us, start smiling and say "Portugal?? Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!"   This behaviour happened in every single checkpoint in every single Central Asia land. It's like a vip pass in this area of the world
    • I still remember watching the World Junior Championships in Moncton when ES was hyping her unbeaten streak of 100+ races or whatever the number was and she promptly came 2nd in 200m
    • After four weekends of winter sports, we are slowly entering the middle of the winter season . And, as usual, it's time for statistics that I don't know which theared to put in      After 29 events, 20 different NOCs was already on the podium. After several seasons, Uzbekistan is also back on the podium thanks to figure skating (and two former Russians).   This weekend will be all about ice sports, with a total of 13 events: 4 in figure skating (first stage in Europe) and 9 in short track (second stage in Montreal, since SLC was cancelled)
    • World Boxing approved seven new applications from the National Federations in Andorra, Belgium, Iraq, Lithuania, Madagascar, Kyrgyzstan and Thailand.
