None of Today's scores are good enough to enter the useful positions of the men's -102kg OQR, but Abokahla's 387kg are just 1 kilo below the current line (unless there are some doping issues I forgot once again  is :KAZ Adiletuly still with us or we lost him, too? :mumble:)

Expand

Adiletuly is also banned and should be removed

and Abokahla is going to 89kg (he has a good position in the ranking already) , his 102kg ranking doesn't matter

great gold medal for Egypt but I was more impressed with the other Egyptian guy, the 18 years old who finished 4th.

Thanks!

for what concerns Abokahla, I think he would have more chances going up to 102kg rather than down to 89kg (where he has a good 375kg record, but the medals are 20kg higher)

meanwhile raising his BW to 102kg might give him a chance to go close to 400kg total (and a medal is safe around 395 in that class)

basically, you need a better score in the -89kg than in the -102kg to medal at the Olympics this time

Karim Abokahla just entered 96kg competition to secure a medal.. he will return back to his Olympic body weight class (89kg)

the 2 Egyptians on the 102 list would be yasser and Mahmoud (who competed today in 96 kg category) Mahmoud is just 18 yrs so I presume he competed to gain experience

in the women's -71kg, Gold went to :CHN Liao Guifang with a Total of 273kg (first World Record of these Championships) ahead of :ECU Angie Palacios Dajomes with 255kg

Bronze went to :USA Olivia Reeves with 253kg

:CHN Liao also won both Snatch and C&J gold medals (with another WR in C&J)

in the women's -71kg OQR, I fear that :ITA Giulia Miserendino and :TPE Chen Wen-Huei are the big loser from Today, dropping from the 9th and 10th useful position out of the top 10

meanwhile :EGY Neama Said and :BRA Amanda Schott are the new entries in the top 10 positions

for :ITA this championship is an absolute disaster (except for the good Sergio Massidda in the men's -61kg) :hairpull:

I also think looking at his body it won't be easy for him to cut weight. @thepharoah should know better but at least for now I think he is going 89kg but I might be wrong

but I don't think 395kg will be enough for medal in Paris. lots of favorites didn't show their best yet. some of them are easily capable of lifting +400kg total. and some guys like Nurudinov might cut weight from 109kg.

I know, but he's limiting his chances in that class

most likely, the 18 yr old guy has a lot more potential to gain BW and improve his score, so it's kind of an obligated move to get down to 89kg for Abokahla, but still...

I think he's the only one who could do it successfully

    • Playa del Carmen Elite16   Women’s Tournament Gold-  Carol Solberg/Rebecca Cavalcanti Silver-  Terese Cannon/Megan Kraft Bronze-  Kristen Nuss/Taryn Brasher   Shoutout to my new favourite pairing of Hüberli/Kernen, who have backed up their silver at the Yucatán Challenge by recording a quarterfinal finish here by defeating Olympic Champions  Duda/Ana Patricia in straight sets in the round of 12 (to be fair, they looked off all event long, but they also beat Nuss/Brasher). This team definitely has what it takes to be a top 5 team and consistently contending for medals. First time watching Kernen play, all I can say is how is she that good at only 19? She’s gonna be a star in the future.    Men’s Tournament Gold-  Noslen Diaz/Jorge Alayo  Silver-  Tomas Capogrosso/Nicolas Capogrosso  Bronze-  Chaim Schalk/James Shaw    Schalk/Shaw defeated Olympic champions  Ahman/Hellvig in the quarterfinals   Full Results

    • So I was watching a replay of China-Germany in between Canada’s game against Sweden and this one against Italy and… it seems like China cheated during it which could’ve been critical in them winning the match?    During the 1st end, Xu with his last rock had an easy hit for the single against three German stones. One of the sweepers for China (I can’t tell which one, this team is quite new to me) “accidentally” kicked their own stone, which redirected one of their own stones into the rings, and Germany only got the steal of 2. HIS FUCKING FOOT IS TOUCHING THE ROCK   Now after, Team Xu was claiming that the stone was picked (it was not) and Muskatewitz was arguing that it couldn’t possibly have been picked. China wouldn’t admit it, and they ended up winning the game 10-9. BOO.    Hope these cheaters don’t qualify for the Olympics.
    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.
    • I'm in tears, finally I have access after months. For some reason I can only enter the site from my phone. Surely it must be a problem with my home internet connection.
    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
