Home success for :FRA Manon Brunet in the women's Sabre, meanwhile the Swiss stage of the men's Epee was quite a triumph for the :UKR Ukranian team, with :UKR Igor Reizlin winning a thrilling final against :RUS Vadim Anokhin at the OT, followed by his teammate :UKR Roman Svichkar also on the podium in bronze medal position...

what do these 2 events have in common? but it's so obvious! the :ITA Italian shamful performance, with nobody even close to the medals...

Italian disgraceful results that go on in Cairo, where 2 medals are safe, but where the first one by :ITA Elisa Di Francisca is "only" a bronze, after she lost her semifinal match against :CHN Shi...

now only :ITA Errigo can save our day, which in any case can't be named "sufficient", even in case Arianna wins gold later today...

María Teresa Díaz has reached T16 for the 3rd time in a row (European, Worlds and WC El Cairo) and she is now 9.3 points in front of the best Polish fencer (8 if we consider only 3 results) and only 1.7 points behind Fanny Kreiss! If tomorrow Germany or Hungary are able to overcome Poland in the team's event, she would provisionally get the 2nd European spot to Tokyo, which would be a very huge surprise. I hope she could make it!

Furthermore, Yulen Pereira and Araceli Navarro have also reached T16, but it is not enough to get the Olympic spot. Pereira is now 12 points behind Verwijlen, while Araceli would need a medal to catch the Greek fencer, which is very unlikely, so probably both will have to go to the Pre-Olympic. Anyway, I'm glad to see how our level has increased during these last few years. 5 seasons ago, reaching a T16 was almost impossible for us and now we have had 3 in the same day (and Carlos Llavador T8 in Bonn).

and finally, :ITA Arianna Errigo is back to full success...:cheer:

hopefully, it's a sign of renaissance and she doesn't mess up with her fragile mind when the season comes to the crucial moments...

however, as I wrote before, this is definitely not a good day for our fencing...too many flops compared to the only (usual) event where we always come up with something, even in our worst days...:nopompom:

Ugh, we have been eliminated by Ukraine again in the R16 in Men's Epee. I am afraid that we are officially doomed.

On the other hand the girls are doing a great job in sabre, they defeated Italy pretty easily and they are in the SF. Maybe we will have at the least two teams in Tokyo.

Results Foil Women's Team ? thanks

no results at the moment...not even a small tweet or anything...

this is a real shame!

when FIE would eventually understand that they must not allow Countries with technological blocks on the internet to host any sort of international event, it will always be too late...:wall:

HD streaming/TV production of the whole event and a true live scoring system should be the minimum requirement even to bid for an event...:pope:
