That flying disc (ultimate frisbee) gold medal match was amazing! Phenomenal play, great atmosphere.

Just wish the home crowd hadn't boo’ed the Aussies so much. Because both teams played well, and within the spirit of the game.

Slovakia at the World Games 2022

0 - 1 - 2

20220716_151347.jpeg?itok=sNF9DfW-

4th medal of the games secured for team Slovakia,

when the Slovak World Games 2022 Opening Ceremony flag bearer and slovak delegation´s "poster girl star" Monika Chochlíková

was designated as the winner of her Semifinal Muay Thai W -51kg contest over the Austrian Rebecca Hodl

by unanimous decision

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Team :SVK Day 9 Results

Saturday 16th

Duathlon:

Individual W

-. Nikola Čorbová    DSQ

Odd, Strange and hard warm Day experienced yesterday our sole Duathlon participant at the Games, Nikola Čorbová, but also more than a half of starters with her as well...

A bit of scandalous taste had the end of the W Individual competition in the streets of Birmingham...

Nikola was in the lead group during the Cycling 40 kms part (as it was revealed later, undesirably she and her lead group partners - did 45km ),

sadly during this part, because of poor organization and very bad track markings, the group went to the wrong way and did literally one more lap in cycling than they should have...

Nikola arrived to the finish line in 15th position, which was her best careers result, just to be later informed that she, like all the group, is disqualified...

Muay Thai:

-51kg W

Semifinals

:SVK Monika Chochlíková  30 - 27  Rebecca Hodl :AUT

Qualified to the Gold Medal Bout

and to the enormous joy of Slovak sport fans Monika managed to handle the pressure after the flop in the Kickboxing, and secured herself yet another medal from the World Games, She will not return home empty handed from Birmingham either.

Even, if she wanted to win in both events,

but in opposite to her strongest Kickboxing, paradoxically it was in the Muay Thai where

she was clearly more successful this time in Alabama.

In yesterday semifinal she totally dominated the fight over her Austrian opponent, winning by unanimous decision,

The Ring judge even had to count the Austrian in Round 2. but she was allowed to continue and complete the match anyway.

Monika will fight for Gold in this last Day of the games against the reigning world champion Meriem El-Moubarik of :MAR
