Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Brooke Sweat :USA lose their opening match 2-1 against Stubbe and Van Iersel :NED

That's a big surprise, but hey ... with a very weak team in their poule, the other three teams will finish in the top 3 and will advance to the next round.

Aren´t only the top 2 from each group + 2 best ranked 3rd teams qualifying directly, the remaining 3rd teams have to play the play-offs ?

Good start for our pair Dubovcová/Štrbová with a 2-0 win over the 17th world ranking team from :FIN

The top 2 pairs from each pool advance + the 4 best 3rd place pairs.  The other 8 pairs will play a lucky loser round for the remaining 4 spots in the knockout stage of 32 pairs.
