Found some YouTube channels that stream Sultan (Turkish) League volleyball for free, thought I would share :yes

CEV Champions League Volleyball Streaming: https://youtube.com/@CEVolleyball?si=1vzDf3kGz6gwA-Sq

Unfortunately, still can’t find any links for Sesc Rj Flamengo, Vero Volley Monza or ZASKA

It looks like this channel will broadcast one free Brazilian Superliga game per round.

I just couldn't find a schedule of which games will be broadcast this season. :mumble:

formerly from :LUX (despite the clear Polish heritage) Kamil Rychlicki might start playing for :ITA in the next international competitions (he got the :ITA passport already 11 months ago and he hasn't played NT international volleyball for years)

currently he's one of the best "opposite hitters" in the :ITA Superlega for Trento (the same team of Micheletto, Lavia and Sbertoli)

well I didn't watch a lot from this season (maybe he improved a lot?!) but I watched this guy for so many years and to me he is the worst player ever! I always thought his agent is probably the biggest conman in the world, selling him to big clubs over and over. :p

I don't follow club volleyball, so I just can't say anything...

looking at the individual stats, he's doing fine this season...maybe he's found the best environment for him to perform in Trento :mumble:

however, he would be just the replacement for Romanò and Bovolenta, I guess...a sort of ensurance in case of injury of our primary choices (as it is now, with Romanò out a few weeks for an abdominal injury...luckily, there's no NT volleyball right now)

even if they wrote that he might even be ahead of Bovolenta, who's our next big thing, but he's still very young and playing in the not so demanding 2nd tier league this year (they also wrote that Rychlicki's a good teammate and a good presence in the locker room, which is something De Giorgi appreciates a lot)

we'll see what happens next Summer :dunno:

  • 2 weeks later...

So the 2025 men's and women's world championships will have 32 teams: the defending champions, the top 3 teams from the 5 continental championships held in 2023, and the 15 next teams in the world rankings.

As I've mentioned many times, I think that world rankings should be used for seeding, never for qualifying.

But the big problem is that most teams won't play a single match next year, so they can't climb up...

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
