And that's it for France :( I thought for a moment that our youngsters could save the day against the Russians, but the Rowlandson-Krou olympic dream ends up here. Ah if Rowlandson didn't get injured last year, maybe they could had racked up enough point to secure a direct olympic spot. Maybe... well, that's life.

I hope that R-K will stay around for Tokyo.

Vanuatu has reached the semi-final after defeating Kazakhstan 2-0, their next opponent is China, even without their top pair it is going to be hard for them (likely a 2-1 result if they win). Australia vs. Japan is the other semi-final.

For the men the semi-finals are Australia vs. China and Kazakhstan vs. Qatar.

Awesome, Australia will be just as hard if not harder. I wish they didn't let nations which already qualified a team compete here.

NORCECA Continental Cup Finals

Women

:CUB v. :GUA and :CRC v. :MEX in semifinals; I think Cuba will beat Mexico for the spot.

Men

:CAN v. :PUR  and :CUB v. :MEX  It will be hard for any nation other than Canada to qualify here.

CSV Continental Cup Finals

Tournament is being played in the round robin format, with :VEN  having a 3-0 record and in form to win the quota. In the men's, all appears the spot will be contested by :CHI  and :VEN

Venezuela won the women's tournament and will be the South American representative... Belgium and Austria will play the men's final in Europe tomorrow. Qatar will play in Asian men's final (don't know who is the opponent).

Results coverage of this is absolutely horrible. The only source of information are various twitter accounts.

The men’s draw was much more straightforward, with Qatar beating Kazakhstan in straight games, and China disposing of Australia, also in straight sets.

I'm guessing this means Qatar will play against China?

Looks like it is. I've found out earlier that "Qatar" defeated KAZ, so this should be it.

    • I would prefer the 12 teams tournament in both genders, and give the almost 80/90 quotas to a lot of sports. For example, 32 could go to 4 more teams in each gender in basket 3x3. Then, the 12 team qualification i will do it like this:   Host quota gold medal of the previous olympic (-1 reduction to the confederation of the gold medal team) 3 to europe 1 oceania 2 south america 1 north america and caribe 1 africa 1 asia 1 playoff africa-asia 1 playoff of loser of africa-asia, 4th europe, 3th southamerica and 2nd north and caribe   and for the women probably the same changing south and north america quotas

    • 16 women's teams, because 12 is a shitty number for a tournament - both because the forced continental representation will lead to it being a relatively weak tournament and because you can not make a decent tournament with 12 teams, you'll be forced to have the super awful 'best third placed teams' nonsense.   0 men's teams   Instead of a total of 28, we go to a total of 16 teams. We gain 12 x whatever number of players are in a men's team for sports where the Olympics are important, we have a women's tournament with a decent format and we get rid of having junior championships at the Olympics, win-win-win

    • as usual, when a major tournament is held in China, it makes almost impossible to follow properly, especially when it comes to live broadcast    now, there's only a streaming on the official website working only on PCs, no YT, no apps, which means no comfortable TV watch    however, the first couple of days has already gone and we know the individual Sabre medallists...
