Men's 5000m in athletics seems to be particularly interesting here. So many great names.

Athletics, men's 5000m...that's a true coin toss, as all the greatest middle distance runners and the dirtiest cheaters in history :p are in this list.

Being coherent, I should vote for Zatopek, but since I'm more emotional than coherent, my pick goes to my favorite runner and person among them: :MAR Hicham El Guerrouj.

Swimming, man's 200m Backstroke...here it's easier...and sorry for the great Aaron Peirsol, this time my pick is (once again) :GDR Roland Matthes.

Archery, women's Individual...this is really easy, as :KOR Kim Soo-Nyung is the undisputed best female shooter of all time. Therefore, she's my pick.

Sailing, men's One-Person Dinghy (Laser)...despite being one of the most arrogant human beings in the world, most likely he's also the best Olympic sailor ever: :GBR Ben Ainslie.

Shooting, women's Pistol...since she's the only women to repeat herself in the same discipline, my pick is :BUL Maria Grozdeva.

Voting in this one ends on Thursday if anyone’s interested.

    • Yes, everyone is Orbán-supporter who doesn't believe Ukraine is snow white! How will change GDP if the price of the petrol increases? Because the main pipeline is shut down! And there is no any problem according by the EU!

    • Although it was a terrible Olympics for Canada, and my two favourite sports (Hockey and Short Track) really didn't work out for us, there were a couple of fun times.    -Women's Pursuit team winning gold because while it was not unexpected at all, it was still a great triumph against an amazing adversary.    -Dubreuil getting a surprise bronze in speed skating 500m.    -Really all of speed skating, Canada and otherwise.    -I really want to say Dubois getting gold in short track, but the whole thing was a mess.    -The last two ends of the men's curling gold medal game.    -Kingsbury getting gold. But it was more relief than excitement, unfortunately.    -I really like the luge relay. Canada was not involved, unfortunately, but it's always fun to watch.    -Men's freeski big air final was nuts! In all the good ways. That was truly the highest level of competition I've seen in a very long time.    -The dog crossing the finish line in cross country, which should have been the meme of the Olympics (not that...other thing).
    • Apparent Gu and Atkin do not like each other at all anymore. They were good freinds a few years ago but now hate one another.  I’m not sure Gu and Li Fanghui like each other either that much.
    • It was also nice to have actual crowds again. I think the Beijing organizers did the best they could given the COVID regulations that still existed in China at the time, but it sure did dampen the atmosphere *a lot*.
