I'm pretty sure today's sprint was scheduled so late so it didn't clash with the World Cup cross-country races in Falun. Norwegian TV probably wanted to avoid the overlap. There was no cross country yesterday so men's sprint was not affected.

Here are the men's 2023/24 quota. Due to Russia and Belarus ban some teams obviously profited with extra quotas. On the flip side is Slovakia who had didn't even make Top 20 for the first time in XXI century @hckošice

 

 

we only have two registered active adults. thus the number of quotas is sitting and fair, we are at our right place.

 Patrick Favre and Vincent Vittoz will no longer be coaches of the French men's team next season. They would probably have continued, but the athletes in particular had wanted changes.

Apparently the worst situation was in the middle-placed shooting ranges and the complains from teams who were zeroing there including were one of the main reason why the race was postponed for tomorrow. Our girls claimed they did not see the target at all

Women's pursuit cancelled like expected. New bibs for the sprint and suddenly everyone goes in Group 1 again Grotian with #71.

Next thing is to somehow limit the number of skis per athlete for a competition. It is bullshit for top athletes to have the option of 40-50 pairs (!) of skis per race, that immediately neutralizes any chance anyone from any less rich nation has to ever be competitive.

 

Great step with the wax though! In Planica the race organizer already limited some of the resources they could bring. Like, Norway wanted to bring three equipment trucks for stuff like waxing, which is way way over the top of course, so they were only allowed to park one  

 

Edit: a bit further reading, and athletes can register 2 pairs of skis for the race the day before! I guess they can still bring a gazillion and then choose 2, but still, that's a good step!

Also: it should be up to the athletes to test & choose their own skis.  No more having squads of roadies doing it for you.

Exactly. It's really not that difficult, there's the official training the day before the race to do that. Plenty of time.

Too bad, but cancelling the unfair pursuit is still a way better decision than moving that one to Sunday and cancelling the mass start

you already know the forecast is not good at all and then you persevere to put events in the worst possible clocking with no chance of "playing with time"?
