Rough for Mona Brorsson :( Swedish women's team is the hardest to get into at this moment.

I think she is still recovering from illness.  I might be mistaking her with someone else ... but I did remember reading an article about her.

Vanessa Hinz quit, injured or demoted?

Edit: nevermind, saw her in ibu cup thread

Hinz was sick and injured in the preparation, and could not prevail against Frühwirth, Schneider and Weidel in the test races now. Therefore, she must first in the IBU Cup.

This is weird - Eurosport / Discovery schedules for next week do not show any biathlon.  Surely nobody is going to do anything stupid….

Seems there have been intense last minute negotiations going on.  Think of the cemetery gunfight scene in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.  Anyway, deal done.  :surprise:

Discovery have done a lot of stupid things, so it wouldn't have been surprising for me. Thankfully we have dodged the gunslinger this time, but the article didn't specify how long is the "multi-year deal"

Rule changes, mostly affecting the points system for the overall World Cup.

it should be 4 years, through the 2025/2026 season (but the only article naming the lenght of the agreement is behind a pay-wall, so I can't read it in its entirety).

:ITA Lukas Hofer is out of the 1st World Cup stage (and maybe even more than that) because he has an inflammation of the tibial tendon of the left leg.

he also had a lot of troubles through the whole Summer, so I fear it's gonna be a very difficult season for him (and considering that Windisch and Bormolini stopped their career at the end of last season, I fear it's gonna be a very difficult season for the whole Italian men's team).

Terrible news, guys.  :GBR  Biathlon on Eurosport this season in the UK will be highlights only.  Nothing live.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
