Chengdu is hungry for events.. After securing Universiade 2021, they are now bidding for World Games 2025 and ITTF World Team championships 2022

Well.. that's what happen when you are half-hearted in hosting the Games with budget cuts. The logo also sucks too

 

There were proposal to move it to Thailand (the always ready replacement) or Indonesia (hosted last year's Asian Games). But both countries might be unstable due to elections. So in the end the organizers were like: "WE WILL DO IT NO MATTER WHAT"

Why are the SEA Games staged every two years? It looks weird to me that the Olympic council of Asia allows this competition to be staged every two years.

It has been a tradition, even SEA Games is older than OCA.
