Just crazy how they have two boats from New Zealand who are so far ahead of the rest of the field

In this competition yeah, but not in general. Lisa Carrington is one of the most dominant forces in history in women’s kayak sprint, and the clear favourite for gold in this event. For Fischer, she’ll for sure be one of the medal contenders, but not necessarily a heavy favourite for silver.

She improved her time from worlds last year by two seconds and beat fourth and fifth place from those worlds as well

Like @intoronto said, her time was the 9th fastest across both finals. Course could be faster too. Don’t think the weather would’ve been a factor in it as the races were 15 minutes apart.

Yeah but it was a different race so the conditions will be different for sure even if it was only a half hour apart

Not trying to argue or anything, so I’ll just say this and move on. You’re right in the sense that the conditions could have changed the outcome of each race, but having watched both back, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference.

You can think that Russell has a chance at making the podium in Paris, and that’s fine, but I don’t agree :d

I’m not trying to argue either lol. I’m just being optimistic for Canada. Trying to celebrate the wins we have :)

We have like 100 events with medal potential, at least half of them won’t convert :d

Off the top of my head;

Athletics- Men’s 100m (Andre DeGrasse), Men’s 200m (Andre DeGrasse), Men’s 4x100m relay, Men’s 400m (Christopher Morales-Williams), Men’s 800m (Marco Arop), Men’s 5000m/10000m (Mo Ahmed), Men’s 20km Race Walk (Evan Dunfee), Men’s Decathlon (Pierce LePage, Damian Warner), Men’s Hammer Throw (Ethan Katzberg), Women’s 100m (Audrey Leduc, she has the potential to go 10.7 even if her best is 10.96), Women’s 4x400m relay, Women’s Hammer Throw (Camryn Rogers), Women’s Shot Put (Sarah Mitton)

Artistic Swimming- Duet (Audrey Lamothe/Jaqueline Simoneau)

Breaking- Men’s Event (Philip Kim)

3x3 Basketball- Women’s Tournament

Archery- Men’s Event (Eric Peters)

Basketball- Men’s Team

Beach Volleyball - Women’s Tournament (Melissa Humana-Parades/Brandie Wilkerson)

Boxing - Men’s 63.5kg (Wyatt Sanford), Women’s 75kg (Tammara Thibeault)

Canoeing - Sprint - Women’s C1-200m (Sophia Jensen, Katie Vincent), Women’s C2-500m (Sloan MacKenzie/Katie Vincent)

Cycling - Women’s BMX Racing (Molly Simpson), Women’s Road Race (Alison Jackson), Men’s Omnium (Dylan Bibic), Women’s Sprint/Keirin (Kelsey Mitchell, Lauriane Genest)

Diving - Women’s 3m (whoever qualifies out of Pamela Ware and Mia Vallee), Men’s 10m (Rylan Wiens, Nathan Zsombor-Murray), Men’s 10m Synchro (Rylan Wiens/Nathan Zsombor-Murray), Women’s 10m (Caeli McKay), Women’s 10m Synchro (Caeli McKay/Kate Miller)

Fencing - Women’s Foil (Eleanor Harvey, Jessica Guo), and maybe an outside chance in Women’s Team Foil

Football - Women’s Team

Golf - Not sure but Brooke Henderson and the two male golfers that qualify should be in the mix.

Gymnastics - Men’s Floor (Felix Dolci), Women’s Trampoline (Sophiane Methot), Women’s Balance Beam (Ellie Black)

Judo - Women’s 57kg (either Jessica Klimkait or Christa Deguchi), Women’s 63kg (Catherine Beauchemin Pinard), Men’s 73kg (Arthur Margelidon), Men’s 81kg (Francois Gauthier-Drapeau, Men’s -100kg (either Shady El Nahas or Kyle Reyes)

Rowing - Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls (Jenny Moffat/Jill Cassons), Women’s Eight

Rugby 7s - Women’s Tournament

Sailing - Women’s 49er FX (Georgia/Antonia Lewin-Lafrance), ICLA 6 (Sarah Douglas)

Skateboarding - Men’s Street (Cordano Russell)

Surfing - Women’s Event (Sanoa Olin, Surfing Canada had a training camp in Tahiti and I’ve messaged with their official Instagram account and they think she’ll be a medal contender)

Swimming - Men’s 50m Freestyle (Josh Liendo), Men’s 100m Freestyle (Josh Liendo), Men’s 100m Butterfly (Josh Liendo), Men’s 200m Butterfly (Ilya Kharun), Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Women’s 200m Freestyle (Summer McIntosh, if she swims it), Women’s 400m Freestyle (Summer McIntosh), Women’s 100m Backstroke (Kylie Masse), Women’s 200m Backstroke (Kylie Masse), Women’s 100m Butterfly (Maggie MacNeil), Women’s 200m Butterfly (Summer McIntosh), Women’s 200m Individual Medley (Summer McIntosh, and maybe Sydney Pickrem with an outside chance if she can qualify), Women’s 400m Individual Mefley (Summer McIntosh), Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay

Taekwondo - Women’s 57kg (Skylar Park)

Tennis - So inconstant that I don’t have a clue. Women’s Singles (Leylah Fernandez), Men’s Singles (Felix Auger-Aliassime), Women’s Doubles (Gaby Dabrowski/Leylah Fernandez), Mixed Doubles (Felix Auger-Aliassime/Gaby Dabrowski) should all have chances.

Weightlifting - Women’s 59kg (Maude Charron)

Wrestling - Women’s 68kg (Linda Morais), Women’s 76kg (Justina Di Stasio), and Women’s 62kg (Ana Godinez)

Cam Levins (men’s marathon) is unlikely unless he produces a massive PB or if conditions aren’t the most suitable, but he’s been running well this year so you never know. Alysha Newman (women’s pole vault) is a bit of a question mark.

Left out the women’s basketball team, as they always exit in the group stage at the Olympics and almost didn’t qualify, and the men’s volleyball team even with their monster effort at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Triathlon, Finlay Knox in men’s 200m individual medley (good time at Worlds for gold, but probably won’t medal at the Olympics), and the women’s 4x200m relay in swimming are out too.

That’s a great list ! Love it but why not the women’s 4 by 200?

Because McIntosh and Sophie-Harvey have been the only two to go decent times in the women’s 200m freestyle lately. That might change after Trials though.
