what a shame! :cry:

 

:ITA did throw a deserved win away in the bottom of the 7th inning, gifting :CAN a medal chance despite the many errors made by their defence and the not exactly solid performance by their pitchers :facepalm:

 

and Today it's already time for the Main Round, with the big clash between :USA and :JPN set to begin in a few minutes, @ 11 a.m. CET (7 p.m. in Japan, 5 a.m. ET in North America) :cheer:

so, :ITA can't overtake :CHN even if they win and keep :AUS to 0 runs scored, unless they do win X-0 playing at least 1/3 of the 7th offensive inning (which is even more difficult than what it already looks, given that :ITA are the Home team and attack second later Tonight)

 

on the other hand, :ITA would overtake at least :PUR if they win with any score and keeping :AUS to max 1 run scored

 

finally, :AUS would overtake :ITA and finish 7th with a win Tonight

I remember we beat them in the bronze medal match at Tokyo 2020 just a couple of years ago, and now they can’t even qualify for the World Cup? …

Mexico finished 6th at the 2022 Pan American Championships, only the top 5 qualified to the World Cup.
