Junior teams ready to take international stage – Swimming Canada

Rosters for both Junior Pan Pacs and Junior Open Water Championships. Notably, no Sienna Angove.

Likely means she declined selection?

Most likely, she was on the junior podium in something like 6 events so it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I think she starts college at Ohio State this fall so it probably would've conflicted with the start of the school year.

  • 2 weeks later...

Surprised that no one’s mentioned this yet, but Penny Oleksiak will make one final attempt to qualify in the women’s 100m freestyle at Sette Colli.

Also, she’ll be accompanied by Swimming Canada support staff.

Hopefully someone like :HKG Haughey or :NED Steenbergen will also be there to help pace her.

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
