well, in Serie A events it's still possible...

K1PL events nowadays have become very much "elite" tournaments with 32 athletes (max) each...and I don't know if they will ever get back to the old glory days...:dunno:

oh no it's not about WKF rules or being "eligible" to participate. we still had lot more of athletes eligible to participate . (Olympic Champion Ganjzadeh for example)

it's our own "thing" to not participate (or send very limited number of athletes) Iran didn't participate in last World Karate Championship as well. I thought that's temporary but it's almost a year now :( they are doing the same in Taekwondo as well.

ah, OK...sorry for the misunderstanding...

I hope this sort of "disinterest" would eventually get to an end, sooner or later...and all of your athletes can have their chances to travel the world back as in the past...

It has more to do with politics than disinterest or financial issuses which is also a big problem nowadays. I call it "suicide out of fear of death" policy.:(

Karate senior season came to an end with last Serie A tournament in :INA Jakarta (unless we consider January's :GRE Athens tournament still part of the 2022 season, which looks like WKF does).

Participation was, as expected, very poor, to say the least.

There was international tournament in Moscow with number of countries participating' Egypt, Turkey,  Azerbaijan,  Kazakhstan, Tunisia that's shirts that I saw in photos

and Iran :d bronze medalist in 2nd pic is Mobina Heidari and silver medalist in the last one is Mehdi Khodabakhshi (not the taekwondo athlete)

yes Russia hosted few international events in other sports (including lots of events in wrestling) to keep their athletes in shape. but I assume this so-called "Grand Prix" in Karate was high level comparing to other sports.

    • Apparently this season will be last one in Kamil Stoch career if his results wont be enough good for his standards.
    • Such a nice one for Colturi ! That was fun. It almost looked like a script with the cameras focusing on Colturi a couple of times before her first run and showcasing the potential of youngster and she didn't disappoint.      I hope Colturi skis for Albania forever. So much fun to cheer her with the Albanian flag.    I don't get it why everyone is being so critical of Colturi, you got no right to criticize a personal decision, as most European nations use imported athletes in many sports like wrestling and cheer them on like their.   Would you spend hours criticizing Frank Chamizo for switching to Italy rather than playing for Cuba?

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
