phelps 7,005 Posted April 4 #611 Share Posted April 4 (edited) there was a lot of hype for the men's 100m Free, but tbh, I'm a lot more impressed with Freya Colbert and Max Litchfield's IM races results if that's the standard, I think and can take care of the British 4*100m Free Relay, that was so impressive last year (they basically threw the world champs gold away with that senseless exchange in the prelims) Edited April 4 by phelps

Rafa Maciel 1,456 Posted April 4 #614 Share Posted April 4 3 minutes ago, Josh said: Tobias Robinson - M 1500m Freestyle (OQT) Robinson is already on the team through his open water quota so unlike the other swimmers in the list, he isn't relying on the selectors discretion to make the actual team. Only question is whether he will be doubling up in pool/open water.

GB will probably want to rest some guys in the heats and Whittle has relay experience.

There's a bunch of other people who are vying for that spot and it's likely to depend on results in the 50m and 200m, along with other events given the cap British Swimming has imposed. So Whittle, whilst being a strong contender if they do want to take some specific relay cover, isn't as close right now as some others mentioned might be (for what it is worth, I don't think Cox is quite as close either) dullard

Dawson and Peaty, in particular, are likely to be pulling double duty as I think GB will be going WMMW again for the mixed medley, so it makes sense to cover them. We are also getting to the part of the week, however, when Richards, Scott and Dean, and possibly Guy start piling up quotas in 100 fly, 200 fr and 200 IM, which may relieve some of the pressure. I should clarify that I meant they aren't that close at this exact moment in time. As you say, the other events that are going to happen will start making the picture much clearer. For example, if Osrin wins the 200m back in the BNT, that likely makes a decision more difficult for someone like Cox. Basically the putative relay swimmers want the usual suspects to win everything!
