Maybe Team Sweden will give the remaining places in the roster to players from KHL/SHL? I mean i'm sure you could use a guy like Linus Omark from Ufa.

For sure. Omark will be there certainly. From what I know, they are still waiting for the answer of Calle Järnkrok from Nashville, but this should be all from NHL, the remaining places will be fullfiled by european based players

and Canada today announced the name of their last 23. player for their preliminary Round roster.

The Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jared McCann has been added to the team.

So Canada is right now after :GBR the second team to unveil their full team for the preliminary round, remember each team can have a max 23 players during the preliminary round (including 3 Goalies) every team will be allowed to add 2 more players for the knockout round (only field players).

Before the first match of the worlds the 16 teams must name at At the first Directorate meeting at least the minimum number of 15 skaters and 2 goalkeepers. The players entered must be present at the championship venue by the time of the Directorate meeting.

The remaining players up to the allowed maximum of 22 + 3 (for the Preliminary Round) must be submitted for players' control always maximum two hours before any of the following championship games of the team. Players can be added throughout the tournament until the roster is full.

All rosters will be updated in the second post of this thread in the 1st page

So Canadian roster for the preliminary round has just been completed. The coach Alex Vigneault will have as expected a full NHL players team, with John Tavares being arguably the biggest star of the team, Tavares who scored 47 goals this NHL regular season (3rd best goal scorer of the NHL regular season).

Interesting facts in this Canadian roster, the age average is 24 years and the team is including 7 players with experiences from the IIHF seniors World Championships.

In other side, 4 players will experience their absolute debut for team Canada, they never played for their country even at youth categories (the defencers Brandon Montour and Troy Stecher + the forwards Tyler Bertuzzi and Jonathan Marchessault as well)

logically for the first time ever they will play on the european sized rinks (will be interesting to see how they will do) + remember Canada will play in the Košice group, our ice rink is the widest and largest in the country (familiarly called "Letisko" = Airport)

Holly .... !

USA annonunced today their 23 full preliminary round roster, they decided to complete the 3 remaining spots by... anyone else then JACK HUGHES ! the supposed and almost assured NHL Draft #1 for this year.

Jack Hughes will play at his 3rd World Championship this year ! He played at the U20, then he played at the U18 WCh which ended last week, he finished the tourney with 20 points in 7 matches ! for 9 goals and 11 assists. Now he´ll complete the magic WCH trio at the seniors Top Division tournament.

Fun fact he´ll meet his older brother Quinn Hughes in this team in Košice, they will play for the first time together for the USA senior NT :d

Another fun fact, Jack Hughes will become the youngest player ever to play for the :USA at the Seniors World Championship ever !

The other 2 spots will be fullfiled by the Ottawa Senators defencer Christian Wolanin and by the young Adam Fox from the ultra mega prestigious Harvard University

    • I read now that Valentina Rodini will be in the new team of Tizzano + Galtarossa and Martini. I was probably in such an information bubble on Instagram that I thought that only Abbagnale was running a campaign and had a team of people around him. That's why I was surprised by his defeat + the fact that, for example, Rodini supports his rival. But as I wrote, for me the change in the general coach position is a plus. We need a new opening and a new impulse: Cattaneo had his best results in Tokyo and then he only explained that his rowers were running away abroad to the USA to study and that's why he had worse results. Ok, except that it's the same in Romania and Greece but they results are comparable or better. It's obvious that no one here will make the UK or the Netherlands, because we don't have such resources and money but I think we can repeat the Romanian results (2 gold - 3 silver in Paris) and that will be a much better result than the 2 silver in this year.
    • Abbagnale boasted that he had 80 per cent a few days before the vote (I still have the screen) and ran again as a result of a power deal. Not a great loss.   I have doubts about the new technical director though, you can't announce him during the congress, brandishing the scalp of the Abbagnale era technical staff (who then, were Crispi's men). Let's hope there are no rifts between the new staff and the athletes, it had to be handled better.
    • I was surprised by Abbagnale's defeat. I thought he was a sure of victory, since he decided to run - I read some source that he didn't know if he would start before Paris 2024. What do you think about it?

    • Cattaneo was good but his peak was in Tokyo 2021. Then there was such stabilization - stagnation. In Paris the result was in line with expectations but without the wow effect. They threw everything that was best into the quadruple sculls and it was enough for a only silver. Now without the lightweight sculls in LA I think that radical changes are needed to remain competitive. Previously there was a 3-year Olympic cycle due to Covid, so big changes weren`t good but now I think the time is right. Although of course more funds are needed for this sport in Italy, because even the best coach will not overcome this vel our men`s alpine skiing sector
    • @Gianlu33 we posted the same (great) news at the same time
    • Davide Tizzano (1996 Olympic Champion, men's double sculls) is the new President of the Italian Federation, as he defeated the (now former) President Giuseppe Abbagnale by a very small margin (52% to 48%) in last week's federal elections   and he's already at work to make up for the last 8 disappointing years (at least in terms of Olympic success): his first move is bringing back home  Antonio Colamonaci  who made  great in the past 8 years   https://www.oasport.it/2024/11/canottaggio-cambia-la-direzione-tecnica-dellitalia-arriva-il-guru-che-ha-reso-grande-la-romania/   let's see if he can make  great again, now
