Road to Riga Exhibition Games April 21st, 2021 (29 Days to Go)- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Slovakia (OT)1 - 0 Latvia (0-0, 0-0, 0-0, Overtime: 1-0) What a epic debut for the just freshly 17 year old Juraj Slafkovský. One (if not the) best man on the ice today and scorer of the winner in the overtime (after a nice action from only 1 year old Kňažko). Man, this kid is worth of hype. How many teenagers have scored a winner in overtime in their national team debut, and after a seriously positive performance during the whole match, certainly not so many. He was so good that the coach started to use him in two lines from the start of 2nd period. Really looking forward how long he will be able to stay in the team. It is more than certain that he will definitely survive the first cuts. But from overall view, another poor and painful performance from both teams, typical early preparation game, boring with many dumb mistakes, inaccurate passes, easily lost pucks...the form will however surely gradually increase towards the tournament as another players will arrive from their play-offs.

Looks it was a brilliant idea, now when Dublin will very likely withdraw from hosting Both our first EURO 2020(1) matches expected in Dublin will be according to rumors moved to London´s White Hart Lane (now known as Tottenham Hotspur Stadium)

Sure, but I think our federation just tried to play safely. Covid hit many aspects of life sports as Well. Minor sports being Hurts the most. A 3-4th place at OQT brings you nothing, instead a top result at european championship fullfil required criterias for funding and states financial support. With the two secured medals from Akhsarbek and Tajmuraz plus possible bronze from Makoev they managed to save Their funding. However I agree that clearly peaking 3 weeks before the most important event was not the best idea, but I Can very Well understand the reasoning of that...

1. Maybe. I am not his doctor, but It was visible he had some issue with his hand, fake or not, I really can not be certain ofc 2. Yes, I misread it, somehow read one line below (the repechage one) instead of the second bronze medal match, my bad, stupid mistake, I admit, but for my excuse, this is what happen when you took a quick look on the results while watching hockey match on TV (And I was also a bit surprised by it, I mean beating two bronze medalists haha) well, dumb mistake Anyway, Remember SVK qualifying at least 1 person in a combat sport for the Olympics (almost a science-fiction theme) would be something huge not only for his/her sport, last time we had someone, was one guy in Judo in London (lost in 1st round)..., but Tajmuraz was last years always considered here as someone who can do it. Before going to his first importnt tournament at juniors/U23 WCh (which he won), I remember guys around him saying he can be a thing in the future, so I somehow started to follow him more closely, and despite being not one of the most famous and followed wrestlers on the planet, he step by step always succeeded to achieve some interesting results. I do believe he is the person who can bring popularity to wrestling & all other combat sports in the country. all in all, he is sadly still equally far as close to that Olympic start...

Especially in the overtime, we played like 4 minutes in their zone turning like morons around to loss easily the puck and from their only single action let them obviously to score the winner However, this was only the first preparation match, a roster with only a limited bunch of players who may realistically aspire for a place at the world championships (I personally see maybe 4 of them playing in Riga in 4 weeks). From the positive side I would mention the young Kňažko at 19 made his debut in the A team and was one of our best tonight. Tomorrow the second match and the other two super talents 16 year old Slafkovský and 17 year old Nemec will experience their debut, really looking forward how they will do. So Latvia won today, in other hand we had the opportunity to listen one of the best goal songs two times tonight then

this whole project was doomed to failure already a minute before the announcement of its creation. Therefore, it is incomprehensible to me as such experienced businessmens and economists could even think that it would be successful and were willing to sacrifice their well payed safe jobs and careers. it just doesn't make any sense and logic. The youngest of our crazy trio. Akhsarbek is the new European Champion Gold Medal for in European Championship combat sport. Hell must have frozen over. I see both bronze medalists being guys he beat in his previous rounds, so the gold is a bit deserved then.

he was injured (right arm) during the European Qualifier tournament (injury happened apparently 3 days before the tournament during the final preparation minicamp) and as you remember at the world champs he was selected in the non-olympic weight... 2 unfortunate moments that may really end in a missed 4 year olympic cycle for this kid, which would be really a shame, because he deserve this quota more than let say a couple of others already qualified...hopefully he will be able to have some luck in Sofia.
