  5. Last day of the Preliminary Round continue with the afternoon session and... it is a DERBY TIME ALERT ! In Group B will face in their last game of the tournament already qualified and assured of the top 2 spots of the group B. However Yuesey are obviously huge favorites to win and advance to the quarterfinals from 1st place, will happen if they win in Regulation Time, any other result will send them to the Play-Offs from 2nd place behind Finland. Italy will try to avoid to leave the tournament pointless, so far the only team without single point is assured to finish last 16th in the tournament (however no relegation this year). Anyway any point against USA will be a big surprise and upset, but this is a tournament of surprises so who knows ? In Group A vs yeah, a match for nothing one would say, both are already qualified and will play only for who will go to the quarterfinals as 3rd and who as 4th seeded from this group (SVK has still a very slim theoretical chance of 2nd place) but.. yeah this is more than a match. this is derby. baby ! Both teams will play this game with many substitutes in their line ups today, top lines guys having very deserved rest, so it may be even more interesting and entertaining to watch. Both countries love each other as nobody else in the world, but again for 60 minutes the armistice is paused and the war start just now !

  8. Finland won in shoot-Outs. is at 17 points now and move on top of the group B, but will very likely finish 2nd. Canada is at 10 points and is now 3rd ahead of Kazakhstan who is already eliminated. CAN must now hope the last game vs will not end by a draw after the 60 minutes, this "eventual agreement" will qualify both of them and send Canada home.
  9. 2-2 after Overtime. Penalty Shoot-Out to decide the winner in Riga Arena. CAN now on 10 points just like KAZ, favorable head to head result 4-2 but GER & LAT behind both at 9 points are the threat, tonight they play the last game and a draw may do some real mess
  10. Anton "the Great" Lundell produced and directed the second goal at 16:00 4 minutes to go. CAN in troubles but still alive, remember 2 points are enough for them

  12. You are allowed to have 3 athlets in each individual event, it does not matter if all 3 are with qualifying standards or all 3 via ranking or 1-2 or 2-1. So yes even if you have 1 athlete qualified directly you can add 2 if they are in the cut-off in the ranking
  13. Two goals in 13 seconds send to a comfortbale 4-2 lead
  14. Maxime Comtois Power Play goal. 2-1 Canada, the powerhouse is again closer to the play-offs.
  15. Liam in her Majesty secret services Kirk sored his 7th goal of the tournament. 2-2 between SUI and Great Kirkain
  16. Ruotsalainen delivered a beauty individual action and it is 1-1. Weird change mistake of the Canadians however helped him a lot though
  17. Scores after 1st Period Group A (Olympics Sports Center) Switzerland - Great Britain : 2-1 (2-1, -, -) 10:31 Gregory HOFMANN (Corvi) 1:0 11:08 Liam KIRK (Unassisted) 1:1 16:42 Romain LOEFFEL (Scherwey, Siegenthaler) 2:1 Group B (Riga Arena) Canada - Finland : 1-0 (1-0, -, -) 01:30 Brandon PIRRI (Vilardi, Ferraro) 1:0
  18. yep, the Kazakhs completely messed up yesterday a simple win over goodbye saying Norway would have qualified them for their first ever quarterfinals, now if CAN manage to win this game they will be eliminated
  19. 16-4 the Shots on goal for Canada. Finland clearly not in its day
  20. Meanwhile the fearles British Mr. 007 "Kirk ! Liam Kirk !" tied the score with his 6th goal of the championship against SUI
  21. Looks someone turned on the alarm clock on the Finnish bench. Now it looks, Finland can skate apparently
  22. and it took only 90 seconds for the Chicago Blackhawks Brandon Pirri to open the score, Finland with a bit sleepy start to be honest
  23. Lets go with the live tracker. Last day of the Preliminary Round is going to start in a couple of minutes. vs and vs to open this day If the Group A match has not many in play for, in case of expected regular time win will secure one of the top 2 spots of the group, for GB it is the last match of the tournament. But the match to follow is defintely the group B game between and . Canada was yesterday saved by Norwa who beat Kazakhstan and thus offered a sudden opportunity for the Canadians. everything is set and clear, if win this match, does not matter if in Regular Time or after OT/PSO they will qualify for the Quarterfinals, but if Finland win this game again does not matter if in Regular Time or after overtime/penalty Shoot-Out Canada will miss the quarterfinals for the first time ever.
  24. So this and South Africa already confirming the ir quota likely ended the MTB riders dream to travel to Tokyo I guess. well, the hope did not last too long
