  1. Oh. That´s terrible. I can not even imagine your pain my friend. I really wish to express you My deepest condolences. Stay strong buddy
  2. Finally some good news for Matej Tóth. Our federation already announced we will organize the traditional "Dudinská 50" this year in October, with the main goal being the qualifying standard for Matej.
  3. we are not in the 90-2000´s anymore, the sport is much more competitive and open than it was in the past, a tournament with 16 teams (but with a different format) is important for the advancement of the sport. some countries cannot get to the Olympics under the current circumstances with only 3 offered quotas via qualifications (just thinking about or ), they clearly have the potential to be there in full force, just imagine how big would be the boost of hockey in France if the sport got suddenly some place in TV during the Olympics in France) a bigger tournament would be a huge moment for the hockey itself in all these countries...
  4. Biathlon is great and fun and everything for sure, but on a global scale, the attention is not equal to the popularity of hockey. Hockey is by far the most watched and followed winter olympic sport on a global scale, whether you like it or not. it can perhaps only be compared to maybe figure skating. Biathlon is super popular only in a couple of european countries, just like alpine skiing or nordic skiing 16 teams M ice hockey tournament must be a priority for IIHF, but yeah, will not happen
  5. They better rather expand the Ice Hockey tournament, having only 12 teams in the WOG main lead sport is pretty embarassing to be honest
  6. Here you have the total amount of qualified quotas Link But if you are interested in a particular sport, you can find a particular qualification thread for each of the olympic sports like This Just click on the sport you are searching for and then select the Qualification thread of the sport (it should be the first in each sport section). The qualification is easy to be followed in a nice and clear table formats in the first page of every qualification thread I also can suggest you one great blog following the qualification. and is run by one our Totallympian (Sadly the blog is right now inactive) https://twitter.com/qualifyingg
  7. Ah ok. Didn´t know that. Well, obviously that must be the cause then. Thanks for the clarification

  9. Surprised to not see South Yemen competing...then I realized they competed at the Olympics only once in 1988, but still strange they missed to send anyone to the games organized by the "beloved"... cough..."savior" anyway, even more surprised to realize that we don´t have the flag of Yemen People´s Democratic Republic in totallympics
  10. Some forgotten Olympics venues... Sarajevo 1984 Bobsleigh Track Berlin 1936 Swimming pool Berlin 1936 Olympic Village Grenoble 1968 Ski Jumping hill Atlanta 1996 Tennis Center Canoe Slalom Athens 2004
  11. According to the bible book of Genesis Methuselah was the longest living of all biblical figures, but Japan has the longest high level living sport star in the world Noriaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaki Kasai
  12. Time to also present some Architecture jewels of the country like the Eshima Ohashi. I mean, The most WTF bridge in the world...Seriously someone clearly very badly misread the plans
  13. Ok, booking my tickets to Tokyo now but i must not forget to pack my headphones with me ! because 5 minutes more of this music and i will probably want to kill myself
  14. Ben Jipcho (Athletics) 1972 Munich 3000m Steeple Silver. And first ever pace runner at the Olympics in Mexico City 1968 he after a "team agreement" sacrified himself in the 1500m, Kenya won its first ever Olympics gold, Kipchoge Keino profited from his high pace

  18. Holy shit ! now this is really something
  19. 40 years ago the 19th July 1980 started the Moscow 1980 Olympics Famous also due to the boycott of the so-called western world Former Czechoslovakia as a one of the most "devoted" ex-USSR satelite state send a huge delegation of 211 athletes (the biggest in history 163+48) including also the biggest amount of Slovak athletes in the history of TCH olympic appearances (49 = 30+19) Since the games were ultra important for the USSR they were kinda highly followed in the former Czechoslovakia as well. But the results were not very satisfying and the result of "our" delegation was considered as failure, especially because from the 14 medals we won only 2 golds. (the legendary Ota Zaremba in Weightlifting andTCH football team) this was and is the only summer olympics team sport gold medal Czechoslovakia ever won and until Nagano 1998 Czech Rep. Ice Hockey triumph the only Olympic team sport gold for athletes from both Czechos-slovakian parts. Czechoslovakia Football Team. Gold medalist of Moscow 1980 tournament, the squad included 2 slovaks - the GK Stanislav Seman (First from the left in the top row) who played all 6 matches and conceeded only 1 goal and midfield player František Kunzo (4th from left in top row) The only gold medal Czechoslovakia won in any Olympic team sports during its existence. and in the category of the most WTF random apparences, Czechoslovakia Womens Field Hockey team who competed in Moscow and won silver losing only to the gold medalist Zimbabwe. A sport that basically inexistant in the country received a wild card because of many returning quotas from boycotting NOC´s arrived and won inexplicable silver (Denmark football EURO 1992 prequel lol) 3 Slovak girls were part of the team. Viera Podhányiová (the left GK in the front row), Iveta Šranková and Alena Kyselicová (both from the right in the second row)
