Generally families get together and have a huge meal. It can be formal or informal. People who have to work today will often have office potlucks (a thing where everyone brings a different food item). A lot of people will do Turkey Trots (5k Runs), or attend a parade. My family will have a game night and watch the American football games that are on TV. Black Friday begins this evening, so people may go out shopping. Turkey, Ham, Potatoes, Carrots, Salads, Yams, Corn, etc. are traditional dishes, but a lot families will celebrate with a variety of differing ethnic dishies as well. The holiday is supposed to be about spending time with your family and being thankful for the things you have. It’s not that dissimilar for other meals such as Passover, Novus, Christmas, New Years, etc. Reading the Wikipedia or looking up the history of the day may help you understand more.

I definitely prefer most winter sports over summer sports. Winter sports are just more fun to watch and have better and easier to follow competitions

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I’m thankful for all of you and your contributions to this forum and my number 1 passion, international sports. I celebrated in a truly Totallympian way by running a 5k (my time was 25:30 even though I stopped training 2 and 1/2 weeks ago). Have a great day, and stuff your face too .

I honestly don’t know what that man thinks he was doing. I’m honestly more sad for the Sentinelese who will have more unwanted attention now. They’re happy, leave them alone. Plus they’re one of the last completely uncontacted tribes in the world. Interesting to think that as I type this on a computer, they’re just surviving using wooden tools and an unknown language.

But technically any political entity under a UN state is also recognized as being part of the UN or at least sovereign. Such is the case of the Faroe Islands, Niue, Cook Islands, Greenland, Aruba, Bermuda, etc. Taiwan is a little more complicated. Palestine is also technically an observer state, but I’m fine with them competing as long as Israel is allowed to participate as well.

Lindsey Vonn has suffered a training crash at the National Speed Skiing Center at Copper Mountain, CO. She will NOT need surgery, but is definitely out of the Lake Louise World Cup. US Ski Team will release further details later

I believe that if a nation (or territory) wishes to send athletes to the Olympics they should be allowed to. In my opinion Kosovo, Palestine, Taiwan, and the Faroe Islands are sovereign countries and should, therefore, be allowed to participate. If sports are for everyone, why are countries (and actual territories) blacklisted from competing? Bach might need to fix his rhetoric. I also wouldn’t be sad to see him go.

Except that companies like Walmart, Target, etc. Force their employees to work after 4PM on Thanksgiving, because they’ve decided that Black Friday starts then.

Hunger v. Money. Apparently people like money...who knew?

I mean it’s just one scandal after another for the AIBA. Boxing needs to leave the Olympic program and take a good look at itself.

If I were the GOC, I would be poring money into curling right now. That might be their best chance at an Olympic medal.

All though Black Friday had basically become an excuse for people to leave Thanksgiving celebrations early to celebrate their far greater need for capitalism. Although my family generally all gets together and plays games Thanksgiving night.
