I think it’s been talked about before, but PanAm Sports is exploring the possibility of a Beach Games, Junior Games, and Youth Games. However, ATR (Around The Rings) has learned that there is also a feasibility test taking place/being planned/or possibly happening around the possibility of reviving the idea of a Winter Pan American Games (which I think is very possible, and an interesting idea). ATR believe more information surrounding all of the new ideas will become more available at the next PanAm Sports sometime before Lima 2019.

Fascinating events taking place on the first of day 1 of the ANOC General Assembly. Sheik Ahmad has stepped down from the presidency for the moment and all sorts of interesting sports politics has taken place. First the completely changed the agenda according to the media on site. The agenda, in my opinion, had been altered by Ahmad to show what a great job his presidency has done by showing off the success of the last Olympics, YOG, and establishment of the World Beach Games. These items were presented before Ahmad gave his speech. However, after he officially suspended his candidacy, with no challengers, the ANOC election committee said the election would be moved to a later date. Once they concluded saying this Arab NOC’s lined up and started voicing support for Ahmad one after another. The only dissenting opinions came from the America’s with Costa Rica and St. Lucia voicing their support for the ANOC’s handling of the matter. The ANOC heads of state (ranking members) then went on to justify their position before calling for a lunch break. On a side point the America’s will lose power with Julio Maglino (I spelled his name wrong, I’m trying to type fast) steeping down as Vice President, while the Oceania region gains power since a Fijian will be the next ANOC Vice President (and maybe serving President). Also, the bigger NOC’s: USA, CHN, GBR, GER, RUS, FRA, CAN, RSA, KOR, JPN, etc. have been completely quiet during the whole incident regarding Ahmad. He’s famous in one American household . He really did make my day when he came out of nowhere to win that medal. Plus, Oliva is an easy name to remember.

I’m a little sad that Lewis Oliva didn’t make the list. He’s the one Welsh athlete that stood out to me this year.

I’m so saddened by the behavior and actions of my government today. The world has been so depressing this year. I feel like people have forgotten what it looks like to work towards peace. People have accepted the dehumanization of peoples across the planet. We moved closer to an unlivable world. In sports we’ve destroyed all integrity. We’ve closed our minds to the issues that should be front page news. I have begun to lose hope in this planet, it can be hard some days. I’ve never been diagnosed with depression, but I feel as though the world is so helpless right now. Everyone is stockpiling weapons, trading insults, moving from fad to fad, having a fun little genocide or two. I mean when does this stop? How do we move on from this? How do I move on from this feeling? I feel as though everyone around me is blind. I honestly wish that I had someone to understand. That’s one of the reasons I’m glad to have this forum early this spring. Believe it or not, you silly little group of sports nerds (or jocks) have gotten me through a lot. I feel that people need to have more interactions and conversations like we do on this forum. I just wish the world was a simple as pressing a green arrow.

Sometimes information like that can be helpful. It took me all the way to the state geography quiz Championships when I was 14. I remember knowing all the countries, flags, capitals, states since kindergarten.

Well, my problem is with the Freestyle technique. I took some lessons last time I went (since I already know how to do classic), but the whole my instructor tried to tell me that this and speed skating were similar. However, when I tried to recreate my Skating form, I found it didn’t work. So my questions would be, how do you put power into the skis, and how do you stay gliding without pushing off after each kick (stroke, skate (whatever you call it))?

Well technically that means that they were representing all athletes since the Republic of Northern Cyprus has an NOC I believe.

Do any other users (you guys) either cross country ski, in-line skate, or sport climb. I’m looking for some tips on how to get better at these sports, but I’m practically the only person in my town that does them (that I know of)

The FAI World Paragliding Accuracy Championships due to be held in Serbia have been suspended after the IOC reminded international federations about the ability of athletes of all nationalities to participate. I don’t know why that would be a problem with Serbia (this is sarcasm)
