Ski flying would be a discipline yes , but telemark would be a new sport in the olympics. Norwegian IOC member Gerhard Heiberg has said that in the future host nations could get the ability to propose five new sports/events/disciplines. Heiberg then proposed ski flying , telemark , dog sled , ski orinenteering and bandy.

Not sure tbh. Sounds like they really like the idea of including other cities , So I guess that could be one of the reasons.

Lillehammer is ready to bid for 2026 , they just need the approval of the government. They are talking about having a cheap olympic game , around 20.billions norwegian kroner. IOC will apparently give 10 billions to the host nation. The games will be spread all over Norway . - Cross country skiing , biathlon , alpine skiing and track events at Lillehammer. - Speed skating at Hamar - Ice hockey in Stavanger and Oslo - Snowboard and freestyle at Voss The host nation might get the ability to include 5 sports to the program . The people behind the Lillehammer bid talks about: Ski flying , bandy , dog sled racing , telemark and ski orinenteering. If this is the case then Finnmark in northern Norway will host the dog sled racing. The interesting part is that they consider include the RAW air ski jumping competition in the olympic program. Then there will be olympic ski jumping in Lillehammer , Oslo , Vikersund and Trondheim.

Robert Johansson just won the Norwegian championship in Holmenkollen , Oslo. He's in really good shape now , maybe he takes his first WC win in Lahti?

This was a great olympics for Norway. Taking a new record when it comes to the olympics with 39 medals . My favourite moment was probably Aksel Lund Svindals gold in Downhill. He has come back from injury 4 times , so him taking the gold is really impressive. This was also his last olympics. The gold in team ski jumping was fantastic aswell. Despite being one of the greatest nations in ski jumping we have never taken the olympic gold. Robert Johanssons two bronze medals was awesome aswell , considered he has only been on the podium once. And of course the triple in men's skiathlon . Something I really liked about this games was the big suprises: - Ledecka taking gold in Super G - Germany taking silver in hockey - US taking gold in curling - Sweden taking gold in men's relay in biathlon. My upsets will probably be the delays and reschedules . And imo it was a mistake to give the games to Pyeongchang , mainly because of all the wind. Pyeongchang is known for it's wind mills , there's actually a lot of windmills around the ski jumping hills. Weird right? But as a norwegian I can't complain , so overall good games.

Stockholm is close to bid for the 2026 games. They have most venues, so the games would be relatively cheap. If Sweden gets the games the sports will be spread around the country. Alpine skiing , freestyle and snowboard in Åre and ski jumping and nordic combined in Falun. Ice sports and apparently cross country will be in Stockholm. They are considering having bobsleigh , luge and skeleton on Lillehammer in Norway. Latvia and Germany are also options for those events. Apparently Latvia is interested in collaborating with Sweden on the 2026 games. I'm very positive towards a swedish winter olympic games. If there's a country who deserves having the WO it's Sweden . Edit: Biathlon will be in Stockholm.

If they absolutely need this " sports" in a olympic event then create a new olympic game for them. Call it Mindlympics or something.

I have nothing against a widespread olympics. Imo the olympics should become more widespread. As you said it will be less expansive, no need to build a new ski jumping hill when you have one in the neighbour city for example.

Agree. I am norwegian and wants another olympics eventually. But Switzerland hasn't hosted since 1948 , and as one of the big winter sports nations they really deserve a new olympics.

Just like chess, billiard and darts it's not a sport. And the olympics is a sports competition , so no. Sitting on your ass playing Counter strike has no place in the olympics.

The city council of Lillehammer is moving on with their plans. They are considering working together with Oslo , Bergen , Stavanger and Trondheim , which will be a very widespread olympics. Now it depends on the government. They didn't back the Oslo 2022 bid because of IOC extreme demands. Maybe they will back Lillehammer , as it will not be as expansive as proposed Oslo games. The norwegian population is split on the topic. A lot of us does not want a norwegian olympics right now. Norwegian IOC member Gerhard Heiberg is positive on another Lillehammer olympics.

Time to include ski flying at the olympics? This is something I really want to see. It's so extreme and entertaining . Imo ski flying should replace the normal hill event. Sure jumpers with good telemark landing are rewarded at the NH , but it's like 10 jumpers with same distance and NH dosen't require any special skills exept a good landing. Ski flying on the other hand require special skills , you need to be a good flyer in ski flying. Shouldn't flying specialists be rewarded for their skills with a olympic medal? The problem though is flying hills. There are five approved flying hills and a sixth hill in US that are currently under upgrade. Building a flying hill is expansive and not every country has the terrain to build one. I don't know if IOC has any rules regarding a multi national olympic game. But if it is allowed for a country outside the host nation to host a event , that would better the chances for a flying event. If Sion get the 2026 games then Oberstdorf could host the flying event. Vikersund could host if Sweden or Finland gets the games , Planica if Italy gets and Copper Peak for a north american game. If they build a flying hill in Asia , that would cover asian games. Maybe building one in Russia aswell. Don't know what to do if Australia or Argentina gets a game though. Ski flying is not happening in Beijing , but maybe in 2026? What do you think?

It's not happening in Beijing , but I hope ski flying replaces the normal hill. If IOC is open for having events in countries outside the host event , then if Sion gets 2026 then they can have ski flying in Oberstdorf. They are upgrading the SF hill in US and if we get a flying hill in Asia then we might have enough flying hills for it to be included at the olympics. When it comes to expanding ladies ski jumping at the olympics , mixed team is probably the way to go. As for now there aren't enough teams for a all female team event. Though I think we at least gets ladies large hill in 2026. I'm curious about ski mountaineering . I'll admit I don't know alot about it , is it climbing and then skiing down?

They are talking about including natural track luge and luge sprint. And hopefully mixed team ski jumping will be included.
