  1. It may be, or may be not: it is not uncommon to see people taking flu or influenza more than once in a month or two. Hopefully immunity will be kept, but that is not 100% sure. However, it seems like that the drug being used to treat symptoms (lungs inflammation) is working: today, 4 other patients have gotten better and it is expected that tomorrow they will leave intensive care.
  2. A total lockdown like in Wuhan is impossible here in Europe, not just because for different political views, opportunities, culture (call it as you like it), but especially because Europe is small, geographically speaking. You can't close half a country and expect the other half to support it, especially in Italy where the richest part was hit by the virus. In China, Hubei was closed, but it was equivalent to a small part of a whole country. This is something that somebody, at least here in Italy, doesn't want to understand.
  3. I have another explanation: lack of common sense.
  4. The problem is not the kit, it can be easily produced. The problem is time and instruments for the test, I believe they use RT-PCR, which requires a lot. The kits for taking samples are cheap and easily produced. I just hope we have enough reactants for PCR, those are really expensive
  5. We are in The period of incubation of people Who moved from North to South. More or less, 25th March could be the most important day in 2020, by then, or at least from then, we should start going better
  6. because Lombardy has 1/3 of cases and half of the death that currently have happened in Italy
  7. The most important question is the following: are we sure that one who survived this disease is immunized and can’t get ill again? because it is usual getting influenza two-three times per year, flu even more. It is not to be excluded this to happen
  8. I think they are a little bit expensive at the moment plus, I have to buy Peanuts series first
  9. Oh, how could I forgot! I will also watch Murder, she wrote on tv!
  10. I have all the 4 books by Wyatt, I just need to find a mood for reading them :D I will give a look to the other one!
  11. Well, I bought this An Introduction to Medicinal Chemistry https://www.amazon.it/dp/0198749694/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2URBEb09G3FGX I don’t know how to define it. I mean, it is well written, but very basic, at least for the first 15 chapters! I would like a book more focused on the synthetic part
  12. I’m already bored after 4-5 days however, there’s a book I would like to read by De Giovanni, plus I’m studying my book of medicinal chemistry and there are a lot of synthesis mechanisms I should study. In addition, I should work on my French and English since I will be looking for language certifications after this has finished. Considering this, I firmly can tell you that I will be playing all time with Total War games ah, and maybe cooking
  13. For what I can understand, he was a very good athlete. I was very proud of him, although he never won a gold medal at Olympics, because he comes from a city, next to mine, where there are a lot of problems with organized crime. He was an example for a lot of teenagers, as some before and after him. The fact is that it comes a moment when you have to stop and explain that glory is not forever and should focus on other things. I hope he will understand.
  14. Hopefully a large part may have respected auto isolation here and, even more hopefully, some of them had already been infected and developed immunity. Hopefully...
  15. And with supplies coming from China, if these are the numbers, they can be directed mainly in Lombardia and Emilia and stabilize them, hopefully. But it will take really careful decisions.
  16. Well, I guess we are all European, after all.
  17. Today my article was rejected. Again. I'm very bored by this. It seems like I'll never be able to publish results of my MSc thesis.
  18. Which is a thing that our media should start emphasizing, otherwise... panic! Panic everywhere!
  19. In practice, we can move only for working, if the workplace is still open, or for sanitary emergencies. In theory, everything is open, in practice there are several limitations. This is to allow people who works in sanitary, essential services, food markets and so on to keep on working and be able to work fine (think of people whose workplace are not allowed to have a canteen) obviously, at the moment, there is also the chance of go out to buy food and medicines
  20. that would be our safety: it means that we are already achieving a group immunity, so infection will start its decay soon. Best of luck for your building!
  21. so, apparently, Italy at the moment is the only nation granted to be qualified in each team event
  22. This is what I fear will happen to me, too... I have invested a lot of money in my master at Siena and, among the incredible number of problems that they are creating as they are definitely not able to organize it, now this has happened. And I was planning to move to Switzerland for my mandatory traineeship... I just sent some CVs there, but I fear no good answers will arrive. My girlfriend has passed several interviews to apply for a PhD in Australia, she's finally applied for fundings and now I really hope this will not affect her chances...
  23. I don't know about Iran, but as far as concerns Italy, there were nearly 200 deaths of people that was positive to coronavirus. This does not mean that the virus was directly or indirectly responsible for the death, but that it was present in the body. This is just to say that although it is imperative to contain the spreading of this disease, panic has to be avoided. And this is true not only for Italy, but for everybody.
