  1. Apparently she became unwell. Other rumours said a fall, but seemed like she became unwell due to hyperventilation (which could well be a result of hearing the first split time and hearing she was behind Bruna, her first uphill already looked weaker than that of most others...). I came across her family and asked her brother if she's ok, he seemed to mostly suggest she is.
  2. Apparently countries (or athletes, but I think countries) that wouldn't compete in Milan, were simply not even allowed to be in the Milan ceremony Brazil was the sole exception, because clothes sponsor Moncler used their money and influence to make sure their clothes would be shown in Milan and not one of the minor 'walks'. Or did we see another country in Milan that wouldn't actually compete there?
  3. Absolutely godawful snow conditions by the way. Tons of athletes fell in training today, weather doesn't help but also organizers seem to have no clue what they're doing. Honestly, 10/10 for the friendliness of people working there, but organizing something in an efficient and logical manner doesn't seem to be people's strong suit here Oh well, anyway, the fear among smaller teams is the track will be salted tonight, so it will be fine for the top athletes but destroyed even more for the ones after that. Expect lots of falls and athletes going down carefully.
  4. I already told my dad there's 10 women he needs to pay extra attention to in terms of taking nice photos if possible, obviously including bib 95
  5. Yeah, against Grunde Njøs. Wennemars' screams are part of Dutch collective memory.
  6. Oh, seems like the fastest time counts @MHSN, sorry for the fake news
  7. Dutch TV just seemed to suggest his original time will be scrapped when he does the rerun @MHSN
  8. This is a more than excellent question
  9. He certainly can (although comparisons with Eric Heiden should never be made), depends on the tactics the rest will use in the mass start. Bring him to the finish for a sprint and you're fucked.
  10. Wasn't he around in Beijing already? He is certainly a long established star already
  11. Gold was expected and to be fair, not so many were expected before today (at most 1 or 2 if things went perfectly) but yeah, first medal for them.
  12. Nope, no way Gonna be one of the slowest times of the day I think.
  13. Just see who is good at what kind of race and then you can kind of predict the flow of the race
  14. Gonna be 1:11 or so for Wennemars in the rerun. Meanwhile, beyond insane race for Stolz, as per usual
  15. Wennemars will do the rerun, 19.56 CET.
  16. At least, may even have been 1:06.7ish
  17. Wennemars would absolutely be entitled to a rerun, but yeah, that's gonna have no chance at all.
  18. Wennemars getting screwed out of an almost certain medal by a blind Chinese rookie, fantastic.
  19. Yeah sure, that's ready in my mind
  20. What a shame for the misses, first time in a long time I saw this amazing speed for Baiba Hopefully Saturday she has the same speed and can repeat the 9/10 she started with...
  21. First medal in how long would this be for Bulgaria? And yes, we are in the biathlon thread, so biathlon only obviously
  22. Did it really have to be Simon to take the win?
  23. Surreal is for sure a correct way to describe it, the entire day From seeing her, of course (first while she was warming up and we saw each other for the first time there), to sitting waiting for the finals to begin and suddenly someone coming up and "you must be Bruna's family? I'm from the NOS and I am here for Bruna! I just talked to her already and she is coming here she said, now can I ask you a few things?" (NOS is the Dutch public broadcaster)
