  1. Stephanie Morton retired last year. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/nov/24/stephanie-mortons-retirement-marks-transition-phase-for-australian-cycling
  2. Right, time for some other things while waiting for the team sprint to be back
  3. Should be Germany - China for gold and Netherlands - ROC for bronze (assuming no weird stuff happens in the first round, of course) and both could be very tight.
  4. Dutch women beat Russia in qualifying of the team sprint Doesn't mean that much yet, but still.
  5. We're underway Apparently Kristina Vogel, nowadays sadly paraplegic after her crash, is doing commentary for German TV, that's cool. Nice that she seems to be doing well nowadays, considering the circumstances.
  6. Yeah, I believe you once told me there is a strong suspicion of him losing non-Olympic finals and probably gaining money that way to help his very poor family? If that's truly the case, I could definitely find some sympathy for that, assuming that Cuba is not a country where you will lead the rich, sponsored life... I find it so amazing to see Lopez in action and playing around with these 130kg guys as if they are a children's toy. Truly one of the most impressive athletes of the entire Games, if not the most impressive.
  7. Too bad it won't inspire Thom de Boer for a 30+ medal, since he already said before the Olympics he'll retire after it, since he can no longer combine his regular job with his part-time swimming
  8. I'm positively surprised how quiet this thread got after a pretty worrying start Sad for the two mentioned above though
  9. This got me curious, so: four out of these six were in the Rio final, two of which were in the London final, one of which was already in the Beijing final, where Ralf Schumann took his 5th consecutive medal, illustrating the point even better, besides saying something about Schumann's quality of course
  10. At least in the skeet/trap events you can actually see something being hit and in some of them (like the mixed trap event) the score was shown all the time. I get that you can hardly show a 0,5mm target well, but surely at the very least something like in biathlon, where you can see the results of multiple people at once, isn't impossible in this day and age? I just genuinely don't understand it.
  11. Ah great, I was hoping we might be able to see this in a decent way, but all we get to see is the athlete shooting and a small score graphic after said athlete shot, instead of actually showing the targets. The horror show continues. Time for IBU to be given some control here
  12. Wow, India Awesome to see them in the semis, it'd be so great to see them back in a big final!
  13. Meanwhile, some ever-so-slightly attacks coming out of Belarus.
  14. Lopez I don't think I've watched any event with my heart rate being so high yet these Olympics (although it was higher right after the BMX final)
  15. Catching up with yesterday's semis and I'm now at Kayaalp vs Lopez. I don't think there has been any event I've been looking forward more to at the Olympics than this one and specifically this fight
  16. 5th place for Visser is an amazing performance by itself, even more so considering that earlier this year due to an injury it wasn't even sure if she'd make the Olympics in decent shape. Very well done
  17. The wrong hockey isn't shown ever at all
  18. Dutch NOS is going to miss the 100m hurdles final with Nadine Visser because they're showing a hockey quarterfinal (not with NED)
  19. Tentoglou setting up for a great end, Echevarria's injury making it a huge anticlimax
  20. Tentoglou was NOT impressed
  21. Oh well, disciplinary action, then what? It's not like she'll lose the medal (which would obviously be ridiculous)
  22. Didn't he simply skip it? Looked like he knew it was his turn but he skipped the jump for some (probably injury-related) season.
  23. Yeah that's odd, no idea why
  24. Randolph Ross has a word to say about this as well, but at least he has the excuse of inexperience, Jackson really doesn't
  25. Would have been nice if she made it, but yeah, still being here for someone who was already in the final in Athens is quite the performance
