  1. That is one of the worst mass police actions in quite a while in terms of visibility....whoever was in charge there and gave the tear gas order is directly responsible for dozens and dozens of deaths
  2. The occupiers of Lyman have been encircled in the past few days, leaving only one road open for them to escape back to the gulag the glorious motherland. One road, which was nicely in reach of a ton of heavy artillery of the home team who got back their land. Yet another big step.
  3. It's not often one sees Bach making a statement that makes at least sort of sense.
  4. Thanks buddy Although we also have winter coats and nice warm vests and such, no worries
  5. But surely they have other competitions in between? I mean, athletics has the same championships basically and a whole circuit of Diamond League, Continental Tour meets and whatnot
  6. What other events have there been for them other than the European and world championships and their respective qualifying events? Honest question, I don't really see swimming being 'in the picture' much outside of the few championships, which usually is not more than two or three a year..
  7. Yeah, plus it fits perfectly in Russia's earlier pattern of sabotaging their pipe lines to other places (Georgia, Central Asia) to get what they want, and to sow division. But no, it's not the country that started this war in the first place that did something, but the big bad west And even if it's dumb from Russia, it wouldn't even be their dumbest move of 2022. I mean, they started a war which made everyone see that the 'feared' Russian army is nothing but a rusty pile of decades old crap, manned by a bunch of insanely unmotivated war criminals and nobody's.
  8. New generation standing up in Romania? Lorincz was usually the number one.. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=41667 Of course I don't know if this is one of those usual Eastern European races where races are not always won on the track, so to say
  9. The new episode of Africa Cup has been released. This time it's the 2025 edition, which was supposed to be held in Guinea, but won't be held there anymore, due to the infrastructure not being ready in time, surprisingly Which is all just a few months after the 2023 edition of Ivory Coast was moved to early 2024, because out of nowhere June and July (the months for which it was scheduled in 2023) turned out to be the wet months there, which nobody could have known before I wonder how many consecutive Africa Cups have now been moved in terms of dates, locations or both.
  10. One of those countries where you'd hope things would one day improve, but before you can finish that thought, some other 'leader' takes over and the whole thing starts again and again...
  11. Strange, I heard it's 79% official, but it might be due to a broken officialmeter.
  12. Dear God no There is barely a worse hell on earth to have a big event in terms of infrastructure
  13. Right! We'll go in there (saying we were once one etc, and all kinds of other nowadays totally irrelevant historical things), kick out everyone who doesn't want Belgium to be part of the Netherlands, and then ask all the remaining people if they want to be part of the Netherlands. Of course with armed guards to see if people need help with selecting 'Yes', obviously. And if the outcome is 'yes', which I have a feeling it might be, Belgium is part of the Netherlands
  14. Meanwhile I've noticed my neighbours have a lovely piece of garden. I think tonight I'll put a voting booth there, make some family members vote (at gunpoint if they're not willing), and then tomorrow it's mine
  15. How is something that's barely, if at all, being used - and wouldn't be used anymore anytime soon - an important source of money?
  16. Wait what, what did they do? Edit: IBA's president is Russia's Umar Kremlev, right.
  17. That would be worse for Luxembourg and Fiji than it would be for Russia
  18. Yeah, no Althought in, let's say, 'certain groups', yes.
  19. Interesting that media are picking this up, while the study has been published in January....last year https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7825337/ It apparently hasn't gotten much traction yet in academic circles, but it's interesting nonetheless. It'd be really cool if this is really the fabled ancient plant
  20. I'd hope so, because on the day of the second round I'm in Brazil and definitely not planning to leave my apartment if the voting is going on If it's decided in round one (which I doubt, to be honest, but I have good hopes for not-Bolsonaro in round two), he'll have three more months of power and then it's over in January? I always forget when the inauguration is and such.
  21. This does look like a big improvement
  22. 2:01.09
  23. On the way to 35km and still 45 seconds or so faster than WR pace.
  24. Eliud Kipchoge has gone off very, very strong in Berlin: 28:23 for the first 10k, whereas he posted 29:01 in his world record run in 2018.
  25. Well, bye then
