  1. Bit of a disappointing 100m final in terms of time, but definitely not in terms of tension, that was fun Same for long jump: no fantastic jumps, but a great twist at the end. I truly thought Tentoglou was going to do it in Tentoglou style again - never amazingly good, but always incredibly consistent and solid - but not this time
  2. TV director/camera guy in the call room really should pay a little more attention. Luckily the Ugandan athlete did so just in time, and so narrowly avoided taking off her bra in full view of the camera.
  3. Those 110m hurdles heats were...messy.
  4. I know you are joking, but people who never actually watch anything do actually use this as their serious argument
  5. Third at the NCAA championships, 5th at nationals. Not a bad runner at all, otherwise you wouldn't be fairly consistently running sub-51 seconds, but yeah, no top of the world. It's a bit harsh to criticize her too much I think, she basically performed at or close to her level. The bigger issue was the rest of the team.
  6. Allyson Felix was awful as well. That's what happens when you want to present a once-great legend with a 'free' gold in her last and home championships, even though she quite obviously isn't nearly good enough anymore. Too bad the race wasn't three meters longer
  7. At least Choeyang holds on for bronze. And history for Peru
  8. One would assume race walking in triathlon would be enough of a time punishment by itself.
  9. I think it was a matter of miscommunication..
  10. Dutch Eurosport ski jumping viewers know that thanks to Adam MaƂysz
  11. As if channels all over the world are broadcasting race walking of all things
  12. I don't really think that's strange What are their speeds? At least I assume they have been tested/raced?
  13. Excellent run by 'Alamicron' of Paraguay.
  14. This and 100m freestyle prelims are some of my favourite things
  15. Curious to hear her in the events she follows a bit more closely. In hammer throw she mostly sounds like one of them Olympics.com or English Eurosport commentators who do 10 different sports but only know the PB's, SB's and random facts that are on their commentator papers
  16. Anyone else noticing the pronounciation of the athletes' names by the lady doing the commentary on the WA YouTube stream? At least a third of the names isn't even remotely near to what it presumably should be, as in, Wrotynski being pronounced Wrotoroski or Comenentia being 'Comentina'
  17. The Irish federation has posted a tweet stating the event can be seen on BBC and YouTube, which suggests putting the VPN on Ireland should make it possible to watch the full YouTube streams
  18. I took a list of all countries and eliminated those that are listed here. The resulting countries might have access to the YouTube coverage then (probably not, but gotta try to find some way to watch the things I can't watch live, which will be most, and won't be shown on Dutch NOS, which is basically everything except for the night sessions): Looking at the VPN regions Norton offers, personally I've got some hope to be viewing 'from' Singapore, Romania or Ireland, which all aren't in the broadcast list.
  19. The sad thing is, a lot of fans (like people here) are equally sad about Iranian athletes being denied entry into the US as they/we are about Serbians being denied entry into Kosovo, but sadly we don't really have any influence on the situation... Politicians though...yeah. Never mind politicians.
  20. But endurance event or not, time is going to be a factor at some point. If two athletes reach the top in every single route in qualifying, semis and the final, they need to look at the time at some point. Why not just the final, so the best athlete of the final is the winner... This is kind of like the pursuit in biathlon, where the best athlete of the 'final' isn't necessarily the winner. That feels unfair. But alright, I'm not competing
  21. Can't have the Alpe without remembering this fantastically hilarious stage Especially Manuel Beltran's impossible acceleration at 3:10 is just superb.
