  1. Well what do you know, nice juicy transfusion to get that old edge off.
  2. Oh, right...completely forgot in the chaos of the days before the opening ceremony, I'm too late to join I assume?
  3. Men's modern pentathlon at the moment and then the baseball final is all that's left. Seems perfect to put on in the background tomorrow when cleaning up, because there's plenty of non-Olympic stuff from today I still want to watch Other than that, normal life resuming on Tuesday, luckily I'm still free from work tomorrow for at least one night of alarm-free sleep It's been a boatload of fun, but I'm also feeling a sense of relief and relaxation.
  4. Just saw the 97kg final, I think Sadulaev vs Snyder is the single thing I've been looking forward to the most of the entire Olympics That was a bit disappointing from Snyder, but what a show from Sadulaev
  5. Quickly scrolled through because somehow I had a horrible feeling that there would be an "Totallympics will end after Tokyo" post Nothing like that, the relief is huge. Now I'll read
  6. Didn't know, but Nageeye trained in Kipchoge's group for years (hence the rather happy embrace right after the finish). I did know he and Abdi are pretty close, but I didn't know they've been training together in Ethiopia for a long time now, besides already being friends for 10+ years
  7. Luckily we've got people here who are not laypeople, that helps a lot in understanding the decision.
  8. Getting DQ'ed because you kicked too hard....I entirely understand my feelings about this final come from a complete lack of understanding of how competitive karate works, but I really can't find it sad that karate will be gone from the Olympics after this...sort of feels like you fight for gold in "Holding Back Fighting". Edit: Reading the previous two pages helped, at least And most importantly it's good to see the Iranian sort of ok after all.
  9. I may be naive, but I'm holding on to a bit of hope that people (other than federation officials or something) aren't so pathetic?
  10. Looking from a career perspective, Wild badly, badly deserved an Olympic medal, to be fair. This move was a bit shady though, even though all she really did was following the moves in front of her. Good thing Kajihara stayed on silver, a medal was slightly expected here but the pressure at home must have been big
  11. That'll be a DQ for Wild On the other hand, Cavendish survived worse without any issue..
  12. Needs to make sure she doesn't lose one more lap, but that might be hard..
  13. News about the official who got hit in the scratch crash: a 20cm open wound in her leg, dislocated collarbone and a large hematoma on her head.
  14. To be fair, at the previous world championships she already pushed Voynova to a decider in the semis, she had already performed very well at the highest level But yeah, definitely not the most expected winner here, to say the least.
  15. By the way, I must say I've grown rather fond of the background tunes during the medal ceremonies. Sounds very...medally and full of a kind of glory
  16. With the fun exception of....Glaetzer, who's also an excellent 1km rider. It really was on him, by the time the rest was allowed to overtake the pacemaker, Kenny was already long gone.
