  1. Aren't the rumours there that there was a meeting between them and EBU (possibly last night already), but in the end they decided to participate anyway? No matter what, it'll definitely be worth watching, hard to imagine there will be no statement at all. The Dutch contingent of fans (3rd largest of all) are already planning a mass sing-along of Europapa when Joost was supposed to perform, and apparently the Norwegian fans are aboard now as well and the word is spreading quickly among the fans
  2. I definitely hope this little moment isn't the (full) reason
  3. Which anyway is by far the worst reason ever to reject competing
  4. Yeah. I highly doubt Nikkie de Jager will present the Dutch votes with a nice cheery "it's been so great to watch the show!" and stuff like that
  5. Oh I definitely liked Armenia Not sure it was necessarily 'good', but it was definitely nice and I was very glad they made it
  6. Just pull an Armenia, Poland or Turkey and spread across every country for those sweet diaspora votes
  7. For starters I want every country back that has participated (and still exists), the more the better
  8. Alessandra Mele, Norway's participant from last year, has withdrawn from giving the Norwegian votes tonight.
  9. Ireland was missing from the flag parade today, something was going on apparently. It's hard to read this and not think about the earlier reports about delegation members of Ireland and Spain being harrassed by Israeli delegation members...
  10. Let's not pretend people 'made it political' this year. The best host's joke so far was when they said "and of course, entirely non-political". I assume that was actually meant as a joke
  11. People in and around the Israeli delegation seem to have very much been on their worst behaviour, provoking left and right, saying this and that person shouldn't be allowed to breath, and so on. But this thing with Netherlands being DQ'ed doesn't seem to have anything to do with them, so Israel's misbehaviour (on several occassions) is a separate issue. Making Eurovision 2024 even more of a shitshow
  12. I hope so Been my big favourite from the first time I heard it Especially if, outside of Israel getting the free war votes, the biggest challengers are Switzerland and France, which I found soooo....meh.
  13. Latest rumour is that Estonia doesn't want to perform anymore
  14. There is no geopolitical explanation for Australia I believe. If it were up to me (which it obviously isn't ), I'd have voted against them being EBU members, but honestly I also don't care that much. It's not over yet, no.
  15. Much as I dislike Israel as a nation, I can definitely accept them being EBU members, they're a lot closer to Europe than to all the nations around them that pretend they don't exist.
  16. Aaaaaand it's done. No tonight. https://eurovision.tv/mediacentre/release/statement-dutch-participation-eurovision-song-contest Wouldn't be surprised if in a few weeks it turns out not much happened and this was all for nothing....
  17. Were there more performances than the one in 2016? Because to be entirely fair, she was 13 at that time, one can hardly blame her for that now And somewhat hard to say how much influence managers and such had in those things. Unless it's just clearly fun visits of course.
  18. The flag is back, we're not done yet
  19. Oh fuck off and go eat a potato.
  20. I haven't seen Dutch social media be in such a non-stop explosion as the past 20 hours in a long time (not even during last year's elections when for the first time a far-right party won, which was quite a stir)
  21. Apparently Swedish police has stated there was a threat from Joost towards a TV employee (female, although that shouldn't make a difference of course), no further details, but it would suggest nothing physical happened. Depending on what exactly happened, that'd be rather dumb of course. I wonder if they're also looking at Israel then, where one of their delegation members (not the singer) apparently posted something about certain people who shouldn't be allowed 'to breath next to us'.
  22. Dutch broadcaster NPO has now stated there is another meeting going on between them, EBU and AVROTROS (the Dutch broadcasting channel).
