As I just read somewhere else, this opens up the way nicely for something like Formula E's 'Fan Boost', where fans vote on social media and the three most voted drivers get a one-time extra power boost during the race (awfully annoying because it's almost always the same, most popular drivers from big countries who get it, but alright). In the Tour de France this could be done by letting fans vote, and the most voted riders can go nuts and inject everything they want for the next stage

Probably anyone would have gone for 'probably a goal' (penalty) rather than 'definitely a goal' (doing nothing) It wasn't red though, there's a small distinction in the rules. He went for the ball and had a somewhat realistic chance at that. It would have been red if clearly all he could do was bring the Croatian guy down.
