  1. Australia won 1-0 against the Netherlands, who hadn't lost for 44 matches.
  2. Australia - Netherlands after 3 quarters: 5-2. Australia - Netherlands at the end: 5-5 and NED won the shoot-outs
  3. I agree, but since there's clearly enough interest among participating nations, there's no reason not to have it.
  4. You do know rugby union very much has a World Cup?
  5. A world championship doesn't have to be 'necessary'. There's apparently enough interest from certain nations to participate, hence there's nothing wrong with having it.
  6. I noticed the same and was looking in awe in the first run how she managed to still run away from the rest while skiing so (for our relatively untrained eyes) effortless.
  7. Wait, again? This is all new or what? Some context would be nice
  8. I doubt she'll change her mind and I really hope she won't, since all she will do is destroy her body entirely if she comes back again. If she truly has that hope, which one can imagine, I hope she stays away from racing after Are.
  9. I read some news article where they even mentioned golf player Rory Sabbatini as Slovak, come on
  10. As expected Qatar won the final
  11. Max Langenhan and Cheyenne Rosenthal, both from Germany, are the new junior world champions. https://www.fil-luge.org/cdn/uploads/ergebnis-junioren-01-02-19.pdf https://www.fil-luge.org/cdn/uploads/ergebnis-juniorinnen-01-02-19.pdf

  13. Well that's not going too bad
  14. Slovenia And a second top-half finish (and pursuit qualification!!) for Matheus
  15. Yep, missed out on 0,09 seconds Too bad, on a good day he can get to the quarter finals or something. There's still Niek van der Velden and Cheryl Maas in some of those freestyle thingies
  16. Just like the 'mountain sports federation' president did about ice climbing in 2014. "It should be Olympic by 2022", he said.
  17. Crashed in training and his helmet says enough..
  18. https://www.theengineer.co.uk/bobsled-winter-olympics-plastic/
  19. That might not be necessary, considering one other continent already has medal candidates and another one is well on it's way to having them within a few years Might help in getting enough interest to have one rink Plus an indoor sports hall can always be used anywhere, if not for any ice sport there's a ton of other sports one can do inside. Sliding tracks are a much bigger issue, which is why I referred to the plan of having ice-like plastic modular tracks that could be built - and after the event moved somewhere else - for a fraction of the current prices.
  20. Google translated that? I'm fairly sure Julia Jim is in fact Yuliia Dzhima?
  21. Just the dumb ones who don't look at the name of their city
  22. I'd love a South American Winter Olympics, but I doubt there's enough money to basically build everything from scratch. I mean, there's some alpine skiing venues and a snowboard cross course? Sure, cross-country skiing and in two places biathlon, but those facilities are rather....let's say, amateuristic. In my opinion it only gets a tiny bit realistic once stuff like ski jumping hills and sliding tracks can be built, deconstructed and moved to another place relatively cheaply. NZ/Australia has a billion times more chance
  23. I would say a prediction contest is about who predicts better. In competition (for some) only gold counts, when predicting outcomes every position counts since you're predicting all or a select group of them (top-3 usually).
  24. Let's look at swimming: is predicting Katie Ledecky - who utterly dominates long distances - to win 800m gold really a better prediction than being right in the much harder choice of who wins silver and/or bronze?
  25. I always get a bit itchy when changes can 'only be made at the beginning of a new year', so I'm glad to read it doesn't have to be like that by definition wumo's idea seems perfectly fine to me, I'm curious to hear other people's opinions By the way, I don't have that much against the current one, if for some reason an agreement can't be made and we stick with this one that's just fine with me too and I promise I won't riot
