  1. Good news from womens boxing... 4 medals assured........ that too two in olympic categories with world class competition As some one said Sarita (in 60kg) is done with... we should try with youngster.... otherwise we have good womens team in olympic categories including neeraj and saweety
  2. great expectations from her...if she does 200+ she stands a chance for medal
  3. Some where i read that Asian games is an one day event so adjusting to weight is not a issue and so she partcipated in 50 kg there After Asian games rules have changed and wrestling has became 2 day event and she has to weigh in for 2 days before the matches and so she has decided to shift to 53 kg Again as i said she is too good to be defeated twice... she won the quota and bronze medal by defeating her opponents easily i hope she gets a measure of Japanese wrestler and north korean wrestler (she defeated mukaida easily) for aasured olympic medal Now its Bajrang turn to prove his mettle and get the quota and medal
  4. Again same question arises whether Vinesh has taken right decision by moving to 53 kg.... some one has said that she was having issues in adjusting her weight to 50 kgs.... but she did it perfectly in asian games 50 kg by defeating both sun/irie.... after great difficulty she got adjusted to sun and irie and started defeating them Now again in 53 kg she should get adjusted to new opponents particularly from japan.... though she has enough time to do it what ever it be vinesh is too good to be defeated twice in a tournament Hopefully she prooves herself by winning the quota tomorrow
  5. yes....great to hear that... on the same line some one should have telecasted world boxing and world weightlifting championships
  6. Fingers crossed for that elusive Olympics Gold with shooters performance in recent period...... I hope our shooters are not peaking too early and they maintain their consistency atleast for one more year
  7. Crucial September month for India with world wrestling, world weightlifting, world boxing and world athletics events...... these events will indicate india preparedness for olympics... its pity that neeraj will not be participating
  8. The medals predicted by gracenote seems to be on higher side..... though i will be the happiest person if India wins 14 medals this time they have not given details of who is going to win medals.....it seems that they have given more medals in womens boxing, wrestling and shooting!!!!
  9. Thanks for clarifying on Vinesha and also Amit.....I know that they are too good and thats why i kept them in good bets for olympic medal Hopefully in one year time they will become more stronger in their new weight categories
  10. Worrying signs: Injury to Neeraj Chopra Dip in form of both Womens and Mens badminton players (its major worry as we have won one medal here in last 2 olympics) Inconsistent play by mens hockey team... though womens team is doing little better Even though they qualify Its better not to talk about archery considering their performance in last 3 olympics particularly womens team.... mens team is doing little better... Change in weight categories for indian athletes who are medal contenders (Amit phangal, Mary kom, mirabhai chanu, Vinesha phogat).... btw can some one throw more light on change in weight category of Vinesha as her case is not forced change like others
  11. Good bets Vinesha Phogat in womens wrestling... she has some thing in her.... even though she has changed her weight category to 53 kgs (which am unable to understand even now considering she won the gold at Asiad in 50 kgs) she is too good to be defeated by wrestler from countries other than japan or russia Mirabhai Chanu in weight lifting…. only worrying factor is change in weight category from 48 kgs to 49 kgs Amit phangal in Boxing... again worrying factor is change in weight category to 52 kgs from 49 kgs in which he won gold at Asiad Womens boxing - I have a strong feeling that atleast one of womens boxer will win a medal... apurvi chandela / manu bhaker in shooting
  12. Hi all....With exactly one year to go for 2020 olympics its definitely time to look into how India is shaping out for tokyo. Best bets: Excellent form of Bajrang punia... i hope he will maintain that consistency for one more year Tremendous form of Saurabh Choudhary in 10 m Air pistol Performance in Shooting Mixed events both 10 m Air pistol and 10 m Air Rifle.... i think India has won gold in these categories at many events I think if India is going to win Gold at Tokyo it has to be from above
  13. In Hockey and kabbadi same story... india is overwhelming favourite but lost the story shockingly In kabbadi it seems ok as iran is improving a lot and olympics is not at stake in Hockey its unforgivable that India lost the easiest way of olympic quota.... mens team losing to malaysia is beyond imagination...over confidence killed them
  14. I agree with boxing.....which is surprisingly under performing after good commonwealth games.... But i feel in wrestling and shooting we have done a good job... we won 2 golds in both sports where competition is at par with olympics (particularly wrestling) What i feel winning 10 medals at asiad games and none at olympics is a matter of concern.... last Olympics we won only 2 medals one in badminton and one in wrestling.... none in shooting and boxing Ultimate benchmark should be olympics.... in that way some of the medals(wrestling, shooting, athletics, badminton) which we won this time, there is chance we can replicate the same at the olympics.... in hockey and TT we have shown improvement
  15. If not for the Afro asian games at the Athletics India should have added atleast 5 more golds by now. Only take away is India athletes are getting a feel of world level competition at the Asian games....
  16. Hi all.. good to see india performing so well at these asian games.....particularly by winning medals in Equestrian, Sepaktakraw, Rowing, Wushu, Bridge and now TT Beating Japan and entering semis in TT is definitely highlight of these games
  17. Congrats Argentina.... What a year Delpo is having... With the way year has gone for Delpo it will be fitting that he gets Davis cup title
  18. Sumit nagal was about to create some sort of upset in davis cup, but as usual lost his way in final set after leading 3-0 (2 breaks) with fatigue.... yesterday it was out doubles team who lost their way with one game away from 2 sets lead This is umpteen time an indian player is facing physical problems even in indian conditions..... am unable to understand this
  19. India finished 7th in FIBA Asian challenge by defeating chinese taipei
  20. India created a huge upset in FIBA Asian challenge by defeating top ranked China... Unbeliavable
  21. Will be eagerly waiting for your blog.... I hope you share all your experiences w.r.t. games i.e. atmosphere, tickets, accommodation, food etc Btw thanks for replying on my doubt... I had been to commonweatlh games in Delhi... i missed crucial india vs pak hockey match because i did not got ticket for that match and booked ticket for athetics during same slot... as you rightly said with so much of live streaming now a days it should not be a problem
  22. Does some one in this forum really went to RIO for games.... if so kindly share their experiences I have a doubt whether mutli sports events like asian games, olympics should be watched by going there or watched on TV..... obviously TV allows you to watch multi events in a day and where as if you go there you can attend at the max 2 events per day but the atmosphere should have been electric So the guys who went to RIO would be in better position to explain this...
  23. Good win over phillipines... but India lost to chinese taipei..... need to win 2 more matches to ensure a QF berth
  24. Good effort by Saketh Myneni.... but this is second time he gets cramped in a 5 setter match which seems to be little absurd at professional tennis (luckily he got through against korean in davis cup as korean was also in same position) So India's love with loosing the plot at the last moment continues even after olympics... 1st it was india cricket team making a mess out of scoring 8 runs from 6 balls... now Saketh continues it by losing the match despite leading 5-2 in final set and having match point
